  1. Wow, I thought you were kidding, it does have his name all over it!!!
  2. I'd keep her away from pot holes on the drivers side till I found a kick stand. Wouldn't want to stop for lunch and return to your truck and find it face down in a mud puddle.
  3. The Mack garage in North Carolina had top notch mechanics. I was talking trade and all they could talk about was the M drive, for fuel milage, durability, pulling power, they all loved it and had no issues. It had a torque rating higher then an 18b, it was around 2050 to 2200? Gearing is alot differnt for the rears with the M drive I believe. High 3's mid low 4's? Mack know how to spec trucks for exactly what your doing.
  4. 2290 is the Federal heavy road use tax paid to the IRS. $500.00 last year, $550.00 this year I believe. Don't insure the truck, just get liability. They won't give you anything if you wreck it anyway. Cargo insurance you don't need, if you flip it, you can afford to buy another load of dirt. If it makes you feel any better, my insurance is almost $800.00 a month on a perfect record. It is all calculated out so the trucker, who has the most invested, makes the least amount. The fed, state and local gov, insurance, truck manufacturer, parts supplier, repair shop, oil company, and DOT, do much better per dollar invested in your truck. If it is a hobby you will enjoy, consider it a bass boat, most hobbies aren't proffitable, maybe if you need the deductions? If you want to make money on the other hand, maybe sell garden vegatables road side. Trucks are all or none and then they are a poor investment.
  5. it was a mint U Model tandem dump with the factory side stand, came standard with dump models since, well you know what happens.
  6. my kids are my world.
  7. I was just up in Ontario above Buffalo, don't they love Macks up there, never seen so many in one place.
  8. A new Bibeau, 9 or 10 foot with hydraulics, installed and painted would be 9 grand. I sold my 611T for 8 large with a new Bibeau body, virgin tires, no rust, and not a thing wrong, brakes, front end all was good and tight. 4x5 transmission and a perfect running motor. The guy saw it road side, gave me a check, hopped in and drove it home. The Bibeau is nice, no cross members to collect dirt and rust, good tensile steel too, they don't dent.
  9. And it's hauling a K Wopper, over kill on the trailer for a T800. Cool though, nice rig.
  10. Looks like a last ditch effort before she goes overseas. Look at the address, save her Vinney!!!
  11. You havent even made a dent in the rules here, try oversized, every state has different rules on width, height, length, rear over hang, lights, flags, night, sunset, half hour after sunset, axle weights, axle spacing, One amber strobe in rear, two in rear, one on each corner of load, flags on load, flags on truck and load, oversize load banner, wide load banner, each bridge has weight restrictions, some you pay to cross, some they close and escort just you, some no problem,DC and Maryland you have to call ahead on most bridges. One I crossed the other day was $100.00 if you were there for 10 am or 2 pm, if not you could cross at 6 pm for $600.00, can't leave the permitted route even for fuel unless you permit the exit and entrance back on,and the list goes on, it's endless
  12. I don't think he even looked at him. The guy looked like a fish in an aquarium, poking at the glass, how do I get out of here.
  13. That is pretty cool. Even better if it was yours. Typed from Ontario Canada.
  14. I don't know about Transciever, but most any log book, pod, bill of laden or any other paper work you pick up in a truck stop is JJ Keller, they have a huge permit and oversize permit office too. Been around since 1952 I believe.
  15. JJ Keller does fuel permits for other states along with any other permit you need.
  16. My Rand McNally 700 gps keeps a log, on duty, off duty, the whole works. It also keeps track of state miles toll and non toll for fuel tax. You just plug it into the computer and download the file......sent from Charlotte N.C.
  17. http://www.radiatorworks.com/ check these guys out. They build as many cores as will fit your truck, copper and brass too. not plastic and aluminum. I priced one, very reasonable. Looks like top quality work. Good people and cheap shipping.
  18. Here's the tank http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bE08xVK6W_s
  19. My R611 always had a bounce a a certian speed. I had all new king pins , bearings, aligned by the best, spun balanced new Generals on front, spun balanced new drives, never could find it.
  20. I had to go back out the gate, then get a temporary card to get in and a paid escort. They seemed to think that we were all safer with the tank setting in the streets then behind their fence, the world was a safe place again when I got that 2"x3" piece of cardboard though.
  21. Didn't realize you had a grass burner, thats your problem. Put a stack on it. Grass burners and apu's should be outlawed. Can't sleep in a truck stop anymore with apu's in stereo and you get a headache as a bonus. Reefers were bad enough. Got to love the goverment.I slept in a blueberry field the other day. Best sleep in weeks.
  22. Teamsters want full controll of trucking again. The ioo isn't liked much. They want all truckers to work for a large company that can be unionized. Thats what the recorder is all about and making the trucks that go to ports employees of the port, that keeps independants out. They passed the law were your truck had to be almost new, then you had to have a apu now they want the recorder and make the docks your employer. The docks is about all the union has left and they are a joke. I went to pick up a loader at the docks in Delaware, I had to have an escort, for security, $100.00 an hour, she sat in my truck and texted all that time, I asked her who loaded me, she didn't know,I asked what did they load, she didn't know. I asked the supervisor why 7 guys to load a loader, we call it a gang he said. ??? What the......... So when it came time to load I said I wanted it backed on, no one dared to, I had to load it and my friends while they watched. Even better, I took an army tank down there to be loaded on a ship, I had the keys and it ran, had the guns and all,it was going to war. I hauled it through Maine,NH.Ma.NY.NJ.DC.They asked if I had a twic card, I said no,they said I had to leave, I was a security risk. I was a security risk because I didn't have a card, so they sent me back out of the gates WITH A TANK that I was trying to give them. Figure that one out. After I paid $30.00 and got a cardboard card I was safe to let in.
  23. Real beauty, I like the line "real trucks rattle" I'll be borrowing that.
  24. Thanks for the updates, been talking to Rochester Fuel today, thinking stage two injectors and the turbo for the Vision. They said a customer, who is in love with his upgrade"stage 3 and turbo" had a pyro heat problem, getting a little hotter then he wanted, he crimped the waste gate line and it improved alot, they said if I have it done in their shop they can set the waste gate for me. I think it's something I'm going to do soon. Love the truck, just need more for the hills, even 1 more gear from the 18 spd would be great. I think I'll stick with stage 2 though.
