I see the logo over the door has a more modern aluminum andonized window covering it. I believe the origional window is behind the logo, so someone knew or knows and cares. They should be at the new Mack plant somewhere. An old fella from Iowa, whom just passed told me something I'll never forget. I said to him, "all the beautifull historic barns, no one takes care of them and they are falling down,I would think that they would be restored for history sake" being 85 and owning his farm all his life, I didn't expect the reply I got. He said they are useless, none of our modern equipment fits in them, why maintain something you don't use, metal buildings are built to fit todays farm. Well, he was 100% right, it's a business and the bottom line for a business is make money and prgress into the future prepared. Great Pictures, I love history and am glad someone else does too.

Is this the same Bruckner with all the new Mack dealerships in Texas? This guy has made Mack a staple down there. http://brucknertruck.com/

I also have a nice hood, same era. 65 to 71 or so, good shape. I would like to see the hood go before snow.Let me know when the day comes, I'll go dig in the shed. -

I have the 710, I see they are having a close out sale for 199.00 on them, I paid 400.00 A few features you might like are the state toll and non toll milage. I turn my gps on before I start the truck and off after I shut down for the night. That way I have all the miles seperated by states that I can either pen copy to paper from the gps or download to the computer for quartly fuel tax. Hope you got the free map updates, the roads are changing constantly. I don't think mine updates roads anymore I think they want me to buy the new model. Another good thing is it works as an electronic log if you want it too and that is downloadable too. You just press on duty, drivinng etc or it will remind you after a mile, or if you don't move for a few minutes. They have a million features, calculater, notebook, and on and on, you have to really dig into it to find all the features. Like points of interest, that finds truck stops and tells you what they have, it finds dealers with their numbers, restraunts by type, american, steak, chinese, french etc.. Overall, a handy tool. I have found when I trust mine for directions, it screws up, if I don't trust it, it is right. Mine is getting real bad I think because they want to phase it out. My map work real well. I think your going to like it, keep me updated because I am due for a new one.

White smoke, puffs strong then gone EGR?
lucerne tractor replied to lucerne tractor's topic in Engine and Transmission
Man did I put on a smoke show in Birlin NH. Got up in the morning and checked the anti freeze, topped it off, warmed up the truck and headed for the drop, when she hit the 8 pounds booste mark, the egr let her go, there was a white ball of smoke 400' in diameter, so thick if a car ran through it it would do body damage, it just hung there forever. Got to the site and got unloaded in a mere 5 hours, made it across rt 2 and home in Maine by dark. She's in the shop, changing the egr,all the hoses, clamps and pipes if needed, and a full service. The egr is cracked. Anyone got one, I'm listening Mack number 28GB519 or 21301444 call me 207- 460-8877 -

White smoke, puffs strong then gone EGR?
lucerne tractor replied to lucerne tractor's topic in Engine and Transmission
I think that was the first time I filled at night, I usually put in a days worth in the am, since fuel is weight why haul it all day if you don't use it, This was cheap and one fill would get me from SC to NH drop and then home in Maine. From there on up the fuel gets more expensive, the CT. TA I'm in tonight is 4.45 -
My Heavy Hauler Brockway
lucerne tractor replied to alex g's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
What power? I still own a Mack!! Beautifull trucks, like the Brock. -
Came through Pa. and Ny 81 and 84, they are everywhere, went by one car that had just hit one a few seconds before I got there. Wanted to stop and carve out the back strap and hind quarters since it was hit forward but didn't think they would like the show being in a new Audi smashed in and they were all dressed up like city folk. They sure are thick and the hunters are moving them. Glad to hear you made out fine.

White smoke, puffs strong then gone EGR?
lucerne tractor replied to lucerne tractor's topic in Engine and Transmission
I'll check the egr when I get home. I don't see any leaks when it's running, I did see one drip in the egr area when I started it this morning. but in the am when it has cooled there is a puddle under the truck. I hope it's not the heads, they are both brand new. It runs fine except the low speed hitch as mentioned and the ocasional white smoke. I haven't seen it today or felt a hitch. I'm sure there will be a puddle in the am. -
White smoke, puffs strong then gone EGR?
lucerne tractor replied to lucerne tractor's topic in Engine and Transmission
Well, got up this am, started the truck and the fuel guage read 1/3 tank, filled both 150's to the top the night before 701.00. Went to the pumps and put in 571.00 looks like I got tapped during the night. That took a chunk out of the proffit on this trip. -
Back at Mt Airy headed north. Last trip out I lost an upper radiator hose between Elpaso and SanAntoio, she got hot and shut down when I pulled over. I think that might have been the start of this problem. Over the past few weeks I have been adding anti freeze, about 2 quarts every two days. I found the blue hose to the front of the egr leaking and tightened the clamp. That seemed to stop or near stop the leak. But, I'm still adding antifreeze. Today while fueling up, two 150's at 3.75, 4.29 in Maine, the truck all of a sudden started smoking white smoke out both pipes. Then it stops just as quick. It hitched in the parking lot at low speed like it was picking up water, I stopped, took off the cap with alot of pressure and filled it again and am on my way to NH then home. The truck will go in the shop as usual for service, this time I was going to change the metal pipes and all rubber hoses and clamps, is an egr due for replacement too? my vin is 004466 is this the correct one Garrett Heat Exchanger Part # 28GB519 please, chime in. I need to get it fixed and back on the road Monday after turkey day. Thanks Mark south of Mt. Airy NC on 77

I have an 05 cxn613 but I'm sure all newer Macks use the same clutch cable. Yesterday, going through Dover I pushed the clutch and the cable broke, so had to continue to Dover AFB with no clutch, made it to rt 1 and then the off ramp, over the bridge back onto 1 north and into the gate, I hollard to the security guards, NO CLUTCH and they moved and I went through where there was room to work on it. Luckily the previous owner had a new spare in the truck so I changed it out and was able to make the load for the day. This is a common thing with the new clutch cables and I see why now that I have changed one. They are a braided steel cable that is pushed not pulled when the pedal is depressed. This causes the strands to expand every time the clutch is used and that isn't often with me.They break right at the clevis they go into at the pedal. The previous owner had changed a few, so he always kept a spare as will I. Maybe it something to think about. Mine is air assist, I don't know if they have a mechanical rod type clutch anymore.

Getting loaded with a helicopter
lucerne tractor replied to TysonV's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
How cool is that!!!!!!!! Nice looking truck too. -
been running 301/50 this week from DAF Base to Ft. Meade Md, moving jet engines to be shreaded, crazy thing is we treat them like new, tarps and all, then they yank them off with a chain, drop them on the ground and push em in a pile, new they were 4.5 million each, so the slip says.

Thanks for the great news, guess where I'm sitting with no load for the weekend? Hint, "Eye of the Storm'' .......................................Dover Delaware!!!!

TV has been disconnected for about 6 or 7 years. It just got really out of hand, it's an insult. News on the net, and anything else I need to look up. Most of the time I'm driving, repairing or on line looking for loads.

Been by there a thousand times, probably go by Sunday or Monday on my way out, never pay much attention except southern Maine and Connecticut, they like to do class 1 inspections and aren't going through all that without writing up something, If they're open, you got to stop in and say high, so you might as well be legal. if they don't get yah, the next one will.
