  1. Yea diesel and pouring oil all over everything works. I'm going to paint the pickup one more time this will be number three and that will be it I think. Rob
  2. You know Tim the only thing I hate about all of them is rust. You can't fix rust. Rob
  3. Reel, FA Marchello years ago bought a bunch of those RD's. They were nicknamed flexible flyers. He had F.A.M on the doors. They had 300's, 8LL's , 50 rears, 20 fronts but they had some sort of single frames in them. They were really light but twisted too much hence the nickname. Beams doesn't really look like one of them but that is a lighter spec. I know Frank Marchello hated them but at that point he was getting out of dump trucking and was concentrating on his Allied fuel company. Cheers, Rob
  4. F.W.D I think that's great you guys do a lot of work in house. I think you guys take more pride in the equipment. I love fire trucks, all of my family and friends are firemen hell I'm even in a firefighter bagpipe band but I hate the petty polictical bull shit with so many of these fire companies, I can walk to my firehouse but they are just a bunch of drunks unfortunately. I think the upstate and rural fire companies take better care of their equipment and are usually guys that are familiar with trucks and equipment. Sorry off my rant about fire departments. Cheers, Rob
  5. I'm going to need a new used canister. I have the older one with the spring loaded studs on the outside of the canister. I want the newer dual element canister and the last time I was at Mack You could only get the primered ones. Many somebody has a canister and straps for me?? Cheers, Robert
  6. I got a custom 3 inch stainless Y pipe coming off of the manifolds going into 4 inch with a Gibson straight thru muffler. I have a aluminum venturi on the air cleaner and some other stuff. It runs decent and sounds good.
  7. I speced a Granite single axle a few years ago. You couldn't get the big Mack single rear in 30,000. You had to go to a Rockwell. The only engine at the time was a 300 nothing bigger with the single axle. When I got done I was at $101,000.00 just for the chassis. Needless to say I didn't by any new truck. And this was H And H where I used to work and Eddie was giving me a cut rate deal as it was. Mack has a hard time competing with single axles. Cheers, Rob
  8. Yea the biggest thing with them to get more power without turbo was intake and exhaust. It always ran good but some things with Ford I wasn't completely impressed with. I might have a more recent pic. Rob
  9. All right 2stack my F350 when I brought it home form Breakey Ford in Walton NY. I got every option. 7.3, 5 speed 4.10 rear xlt lariat interior in blue. Cheers,Rob
  10. Yes and I still have it and use it every day. Got 700,000 out of the first motor 7.3. Went through one trans still original diffs. I'm hoping to get a few more years out of it. Planning on putting a flatbed on it. The bed is getting thin. I can't see spending 50 grand for a new one. I can buy another machine that will make me money you know? Cheers, Robert
  11. Cool, post some pics if you can get them. Rob
  12. F.W.D. you guys do your own servicing in house?. That's cool. You don't see that anymore. Cheers, Rob
  13. Hard to get stainless straps especially for the older trucks. I need to change my dual element canister and try to get polished straps for my R model. RFC
  14. Tim do you run these or just repair them? Cheers, Rob
  15. My old 78 GMC 3/4 ton two wheel drive. Was handed down to me from my Dad who bought it new. He gave it to me when I got my license. It didn't look like this though. I sold it to my cousin and bought a new F350 crew cab diesel in 89. Cheers, Rob
  16. More pics when I drove for Gulino full time. Joes personal truck came out of Connecticut from an excavating co. It used to be red and green. Beautiful truck, 52 rears, 400, 8LL, 18 front, 20 on tag. He put 425's on front and 12r24,5 on rears. This job was at night in Tarrytown NY back in December a few years ago for Conserv. The paver was the Haisidic from Monroe Moulton Paving. It was 21 degrees out. He was bitching the asphalt was lumpy. Really? We were running from Stone Industries in Haledon NJ up there. We had a 1:30 AM start at their drum plant. Lots of time to polish wheels on this one. We get to the job and sit for another 2 hours before we would unload. And they bitched about cols asphalt. The job had to be redone in the Spring. Cheers, Rob
  17. You know what they say about redheads: crazy in bed snakes in the head. I know I was married to one once. Cheers, Robert
