  1. Wish I had taken a photo of it , but several years ago riding in a poker run on my bike the first object to post on our paper map was 2 lamp posts at the end of someones driveway. The objects were two 426 ci Hemi engines with valve covers installed. It has been engraved into my memory. Lamps were welded to each intake and stood up about 3 ft. tall. mike

    Price Of Fuel

Guys, don't you all think we could sure use former Jimmy Carter again for President? I knew this would stir things up a little more now. mike
  3. I'll have to agree Larry, thats the best way to get the clearance on any motor, is to use the gauges. Micrometers are a good thing to have also in your tool box. I'm so pickie about mine I keep them in the house away from the humidity. mike

    Price Of Fuel

$3.89/gal. here in Nashville for the Knock and Ping kind of fuel. What ever happened to the truckers cruising the DC Capitol building? Seems that was in the 70's. Can we get that back again? mike
  5. That's right Tom, I'm just jealous. I've been pooting around the whole month of April just getting the dandelions, crabgrass, clover, etc. etc. killed out of my yard. Have spent over thousand dollars putting new Thuja Green Giants in the yard at differant places. I know that i'm crazy, cause I killed the dandelions, may have to start eating them if the economy gets worse. mike
  6. Just like everything good in life, it just takes time to perfect. Take your time. mike
  7. My dad used to fire these one barrels in Radnor Yard here in Nashville he would tell me. He said these engines would kill a good man tring to shovel coal into it's fire box. Going up hill was murder on a man shoveling all the time up hill. He said you could sit down for a few moments if you were on a level stretch of track. In the winter you would always keep a fire in the fire box ready at a moments notice to pull out and do some switching of cars in the yard. He said a man could get fired for letting the fire go out because it took along time to get one started back in running conditions. Glad he worked the extra board because I mighta been fatherless early in life. mike
  8. Sounds good, keep up tha good work. Now, next time take us for a cruise. mike
  9. Yea David, I also believe it was the seatbelt. If the drivers face got too close to the windshield then the seat chain belt would allow just enough slak to keep the windshield from breaking his nose. I use to love the ole Whites of this model. Once saw in an early 60's Hot Rod Magazine this model someone had put a V-12 Allison behind the cab. Thanks for the memories mike
  10. Glad to see someone your age interested in the Macks. Welcome to Mack Country here at Big Mack Trucks web-site. Their is many years of knowledge here, we also have the Boy Scouts honor thats short for BS if ya catch my drift. Oh yea can't forget Mackpro cause he's out there not too far in your distance for some guidance. Again Welcome mike
  11. Amen Herb, how true a statement. I say the same as you with the mileage he told us. Most of us try the get me by approach for a while until a major problem exists. Then more parts are then needed. Good to hear from you Herb mike
  12. I feel the same as Trent about this tube extension. As long as it is not restricted it should be fine. I went a step further with my tube and built me a coffee can to let the oil catch inside of. It works very good and no restrictions, but I did not put the tube down into the bottom of the can. It is about four or five inches down into the can. One down side is, you have to empty the can at some point. I have no problem with that. I have no mess to cleanup neither. Get creative mike
  13. I think i've laughed till I cried on this one. Funny thing is, no one has topped this one. mike
  14. I believe that is the smartest dog that i've ever seen. I sure could use him at my house, maybe he could vote in the next election. mike
  15. Rob, There ya go another call to Ripley's Believe it or Not this week. Also call the local radio station and tell them to get out there fast. mike
  16. If you cannot hear the Peterbilt, then how would one know of it's existance? Hummmmm Like a tree felling in the forest. Does one know of it making a noise? Professor MackaDyne I like the sound of a natural born aspirated orangutan in the jungle, beating his chest and calling out to all his lady friends. Now that is quite a sound to be heard and lots of power with a 4 inch exhaust.....with teeth. Treehugger Power mike
  17. Ok Guys I believe i'm discovering some BS here and now...I quote...."NO MATTER THE BRAND".... unquote....yes that will relieve some tension otherdog has been having with his Peterbilt. Are there any true to life Mack Lovers out there? That only like the sound of a Mack, other than me? mike
  18. Funny ya say........onetime ago, I thought I found some BS on here, also.............found out I was mistaken once............... only once. Please let us know if ya happen to find any BS sometime, cause we have this special kind of BS Hound....we like to call him OtherDog. He's out there lookin out for us keeping things clean on here. Right Men.......Right,.... carry on Men. mike
  19. On more of a serious note......far as can recall it was back in the 1920's and very early 30's, the heavy duty trucks had no turn signals. If you look at the schemetics of the B Models, the wiring diagrams show diesels and gas engine trucks had turn signals. I would have to say your B Model truck should have turn signals. If not, I would install them for safety's sake. mike
  20. Who needs signals?.......Left arm comes in handy down here and sometimes the fingers do also. I've even had my g/f's use their feet hangin out tha window for a signal. mike
  21. Did ya say boner points? mike
  22. Man that's a sick looking truck. Reminds me of a truck in some movie. mike
  23. Looks good larry, when will you be done, so I can get mine fixed? LOL I'm lucky if I can get my g/f to sit in it much less lay in it. mike
  24. Larry, Just saw this post and feel the same as you about it. I have this to take off also. I've been going around it and taking everything off but the core plug heater and wire cable. Not sure what I want to do with it yet. mike
  25. Hi Tom, Welcome to the BIG Mack Truck site, and I hope we have been some help to you thus far. I think it is neat that a young man would be interested in these vehicles. If you are into restoring your trucks, like they have told me, take your time and the job will be done right. I'm restoring mine at this time and am getting broken parts welded. It's the little things that are also important to me on my truck. Good luck on your ride mike
