  1. Larry, If you don't mind me asking, where did you find the headlight visors for your truck? J.C. Whitney used to have them many moons ago. I have not seen them since the early 70's. THX mike
  2. Guys......I'm sorry.......you all are all wrong.......it was me laying down back their. I had an itch and had to scratch it. mike
  3. Larry, I'll have to say the truck looks GREAT!!!!.... I like the larger bumper but i'm fighting the thoughts of changing anything thats not OEM. I've been wanting to go with a Texas style, rolled edges, center step and maybe lights along the bottom cause i'm not so fond of a black bumper for this truck. I'll probably figure it out when I get further along when time for the restore. Thanks for the reply and photo, it gives me ideas to hold on to. For some reason the shutter cylinder does not want to work. It is binding where I installed neoprene washers inside where the felt washer is in front on the brass shaft. If I only go with the felt washer then air wants to escape around it. Back to the drawing board. I know it's not rocket science. mike
  4. Man!!!!!......i'm always wrong!!!!!!......I thought that was Rob in another one of his outfits from OKLAHOMA.....instead it was Tom all along. I'm going to start drinkin if I don't start having better luck. mike
  5. Yea and i'm still learning how to change oil without getting it all over the floor. Take your time with the truck as if your going to have SEX with it. It likes to be rubbed on, talked nice to, and likes lots of money spent on her, mostly likes money spent on her or him. Found out that mine was a male.......cause one day I was looking up at the BullDog and saw that someone had put balls under the back legs. Lately a transmission man told me to check to see if my transmission had enough oil, cause that can contribute to bad shifting if it is not full of oil.....they leak alot of oil. Good luck and keep us posted on the progress, also take pictures and post them. Regards mike
  6. Rob, Can or will you explain a VOR station and what it does and how you can get TO and FROM a station in flight? THX mike
  7. Rob, I hope either Letterman or Leno finds this sign for their TV humor. That is great! THX mike
  8. Hi Paul, Mighty good to hear from you. I'll take that as good advise about the shutters. I've never used a soda blaster but looks like fun. Anything to ease the job and cut time so I can concentrate on the stripper....... my imagination cannot run that wild. That has to be the wildest thought. I would guess the air pressure would be the troubleing factor with the shutters, having too much can be a problem and not having enough can cause the job to not get done blasting the unit. Shutters do look pretty fragile i've noticed. It'll be done right if I have anything to do with it. Cost doesn't bother me as much as availability of parts for these trucks do. I guess Tom is going to pay a visit for Halloween to you know where. mike
  9. Herb, I believe Momma was wanting my FXSTS softail springer. I just haven't taken a picture and post it yet. I think Momma would like something that does not require working on constantly. I still believe Tom and I need to pay a visit to you know where. mike
  10. She may have already used " the most powerful handgun " we've heard no more replies from him today. Or he may be buying her something special to offset the situation he's in. mike
  11. Hi Kenny, I used to bring my motorcycle chapter and we would ride in your christmas parade in Fairview. Also I used to ride the old 96 from Leipers Fork to Fairview for some really good cycle roads that you have. I had a friend that was the captain of the Hermitage Firehall, a Mr. Riley Young. He and his son were into restoring A model Fords when I was then going to car shows. I'll stop rambling for now. Regards mike
  12. After the garage gets inside insulation, electricity and gutters then driveway will get concrete i'll start taking the B apart for a restoration. I sure could use an extra arm in the matter. When I talk about work, people start having bad backs etc. etc. At this time I have taken the shutter assembly off and have freed the mechanism arms so it now works, but I want to take the black paint off and put it back to the natural finish. I wonder if sending the shutters to a radiator shop would soak the unit and get all the loose matter off is a good idea? mike
  13. Rob could explain it to you and can show you also, if you can muster up some ROADKILL cause he gets kinda hungry when ya talk like thot. mike
  14. Question he has to ask himself is.......does he like to eat.......or does he like to play.......ya know that ya can't have your cake and eat it to. mike
  15. Tom, Yes blogs are read and it's great to be a part of something bigger than we are...meaning the joy to be alive and seeing and being part of this beautiful country. I have seen a small part of it from motorcycle and plane. Keep posting the sites so people that work in an office and those that can't get outside anymore can see the wonderful photo's you do supply. Glad the wine turned out good. Try and think of Jesus when you drink the wine. Thank You! mike
  16. Tom.....where you been?......I been lookin everywhere for ya. Been lookin high....low.....up.....down.....and all around and you wern't their? I have not had a good laugh since jewsimber or sometime before then......Rob has had nobody pickin on him for quiet sometime now. I bet he's been starvin for some attention lately, don't you think? Oh....the goverment has you on file anyway when you join NRA, or any organization. No need to have the people trace ya where abouts. Was a member of tha KKK onetime but, those Americans will turn ya in also.......So I just started my own group called Snippers Anonomus.....no meetings ta go to either....easier than anything i've tried. mike
  17. Don't know about the miss yet.....runs rough at idle at 500rpm but I need to fill the tanks since it's getting colder here. Have not put a fuel filter on this truck since too many things have got in the way. My garage is not finished yet either. I changed oil yesterday with SAE 30 Rotella T.... loosened the nut...LOL..this time...LOL...on the filter. The oil was plenty black for just 5 minutes running time on new Mystery Oil. Took out the Mystery Oil and now has just SAE 30. Larry, I will go to Rotella T 15W40 after I do a rebuild, but for now i'll stay with this. I'm getting 35 lbs pressure now where I was only getting 15 lbs with whatever was in it when I bought it. mike
  18. Rob,........they now have CREW CABS.......ya could get them to extend the seat tracks a little further aft. mike
  19. Mike, I agree with each of you guys about this but, why do all the changing when all you have to do is change a pump because of a little idle issue. Sounds like a lot of work for just a pump issue. That is the way I understand the situation. Sounds like both trucks are decent enough to just enjoy the way they came from the factory. If ya keep them long enough you'll have plenty of work to do on them as is. mike
  20. I've been waiting for this to take place in this country for quite some time. It will be where we cannot vote on the 2nd Amendment, for the government will stop the ammo production so you'll not get ammo or powder or brass for loading equipment to load your own shells. Now, doesn't that make you proud to be an American? mike
  21. Rob, That is just an excuse to own a Cummins Engine. Didn't ya know that Ford has a cab stretcher for bigger occupants. Just go to www.fordtoughtruck.com/fordfseries mike
  22. Thats exactly what Marvel Mystery Oil is supposed to do, keep the engine clean inside. You would think that as many detergents that is in your oils today it would keep things from gumming up. Many people use the newer Lucas Products today and probably get the same results. My engine has not been allowed to get hot enough to keep clean for along time, so that is why I used the cleaner. This Marvel Mystery oil will be drained and i'll be putting in the SAE 30 weight. My oil supplier said yesterday that he sold about 85% of the 15w40 oil and 15% SAE 30 oil. I've used the Marvel Mystery oil for along time and got good results from it but, you can add too much probably like I did, cause it is very thin stuff. mike
  23. I figured it needed a good cleaning that is why I added that other oil. I'm wondering if it washed the bearings a little too much in that 5 mins.causing the vibration. mike
  24. Changed oil for the first time in the 673P and used 1 gal. of Marvel Mystery oil to the rest of 7 gal. of SAE 30 Rotella T a total of 8 gal. of oil. or 20 quarts. I figured the engine may need a cleaning out. I have ran the engine probably for 5 or 6 minutes so far. I am now getting a vibration at idle in the engine and wondered if the oil should be changed back to full SAE 30 at this time and get rid of the Marvel Mystery oil? Replies are welcome. Thanks mike
  25. Herb, thanks for the answer. I believe that on one of my recent posts, I was talking to Larry in the Air Brakes Section and shows my leaking pump. I guess it would be best to use a line wrench for this. Could it be where it may need an o-ring under it without major repair ? mike
