Hi Jase, It's time to get out the micrometers for those 6 cylinders and see what they read. This will tell you if you have larger than standard size pistons etc. Barry can help when it's time for engine parts. Remember to take some pictures during the teardown process and post them here. And also the re-assembly.You can go back into this forum and find some posts showing some pretty rough looking scuffed up liners and pistons, also cracks in the liners letting oil and antifreeze inside the engine crankcase. I've been searching for a couple of air tanks for my B and every place I have called has gone brain dead on me. Have called Mack and they do not return calls. I went to an International truck dealer and no luck with them. I'd buy new tanks if people knew what an air tank was. I found a scrap yard for trucks and they want 75.00 a piece for them. Does this sound about right for used air tanks? THX mike

Herb, I just wondered if someone used a torque wrench to tighen the oil pan drain plug. I hope not. I should have built me a pit in the floor of my new garage, but I did not do it. Yes the drain plug is too tight for me to handle. I thought of using a pipe also but will have to find me one this week. And will have to buy me the proper six-point socket for my 1/2 inch socket wrench. I only have the proper size combination wrench at this time. Thanks for the info its much appreciated. mike

Herb, I don't think I would retorque a set of heads after they have been disturbed without replacing the gaskets especialy if their is any leakage. And I would rather use the torque settings that Glenn gave because the more quench is much closer than the 150lbs. my manual gave. While we are on this engine subject. I was trying to change oil for the first time in my END673P today. But looks like the previous owner had the nut so tight that I failed to get it loose. What could the torque be set to get this nut loose? I was using an combination wrench with no luck. Thanks mike

Hi Glen, I told him i'd get back to him. I only hope he didn't go ahead with the torque someone else gave him. My 1965 copyright MOTORS MANUAL gives 150lbs. torque for the 673's and 711 engines. And to use oil on the bolts, run up finger tight before using AIR FORCE torque on them. And also use new studs at overhaul. Don't use sealing compound on gaskets. My manual did say to use the latest head gaskets. But did not say it was a Mack OEM gaskets. He may need to get the mike out and see if the thickness is the same mike

Jase, I'm not at home where my manual is at. It sounds right to me but I hate guessing. I hope someone see's this and sends you the correct specs soon before you get too involved. I'm at my g/f house on her computer and will get back late this afternoon. I will check back. mike

Yea, I tried the Irish Spring method also. The very next day I checked on the truck, looked inside and lo and behold the mice were laying around with their sunglasses on in their string bikini's. They had built a swimming pool and were using it for some R&R and bathing. So the moral to the story is.....if ya can't beat-em, join-em and so I did. Now I use Irish Spring also. I also have to get permission from the mice to use my truck on Sunday afternoon's only. Regards!!! mike

Tom, When I was cleaning the pre-filter it for some reason did not work for me. I was using full strength and thinking it would just dissolve for me, but it did not. I used the whole bottle and it took me most of the week after work. I'm glad the Mean Green worked for you. I was also using 90lb. air pressure blowing it back through the filter. The Mojo worked, and I cut the strength in half with water. mike

Me and the g/f washed the B yesterday p.m. for the first time since I bought it a year ago. The tires and mudflaps were pretty grimmy and did not get the items cleaned yet. I normally use Greased Lightning for all of the grimmy stuff, and make sure you use a brush with some armstrong behind it. It worked very well for me a few weeks ago when I was cleaning my pre-filter on the B engine. Clean with soap and water then use your favorite de-greaser then always let it stand for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing off. Then I use the Armor-all to make it shine. I bought some de-greaser several weeks ago that is very strong if you have a Northern Tool Store. It's called Mojo for truck cleaning. It works great too but has a strange odor. mike

Greg, I tried with my NAPA guy here in Nashville, but he could not find anything for that truck. Sorry, I would have been glad to have helped ya out. I would be interested who does have parts for that year of truck. Keep us posted! mike

Greg, So she got alittle timid on getting a video for ya and left a puddle. Did ya make love to her before ya told her what ya were going to expect out of her? I guess not so this is what happens when not enough 4play. As for the fuel pump i'll check with my NAPA guy and see what he says and get back sometime today. Regards mike

I'm alittle surprised you guys haven't brought up the much needed vegetable " The RAMP " it is an east Tennessee onion. Joe you could have told them about the ramp festival held in your location each year. It would be great with what Rob is fixing. It goes with anything to help flavor it. mike
