  1. I would call a local truck salvage yard first to see if they have a unit in the low 4's ratio, this ratio should get you in the ballpark of 63 mph. Also if you have a local dealer you can save as oppose shipping cost are rediculous at this time. And if I mention Watts Mack Sales enough, they may start giving us a 10% discount on parts. ... LOL....... mike
  2. Rob, Yes Bwana, You are right Bwana, Your always right Bwana.....LOL...{from the movie Hatari with John Wayne} mike
  3. Has anybody seen or heard of our wonderful GURU ? Especially when we need him sooooooooo bad. mike HINT: I hope he's not still sick.
  4. I believe your right, if he stays with original emblems. From the info my little brain recieved from Barry is, if you go with the new emblems, the new emblems have a different stud mounting. Thats fine if you don't have mounting holes drilled already. Then you might want to cover them up. Or you can do like someone I know, drill a bunch of holes paint through them, then WALA you got it. Also make sure you use one eye to drill the holes, if not, you'll have to drill all the holes again next to the holes you've already drilled. mike
  5. As i'm getting more of an education with these trucks, i'm having to also have a reality check. Cause everything that I thought was reasonable is not. It depends on how bad you want it. Anyway if you want, check with Allmack.com or call Kevin phone# 607-652-7704 he might be able to help. He has helped me with the B model emblems. Regards mike
  6. Welcome to the site. I'm kinda like James in that about growing up. I'll just be glad when it happens to me also. I've been waiting since 1953. And honestly still don't have enough money to do what I want, when I figure what I want to do. mike
  7. Rob, Get MOMMA to re-check your temperature. Tell her not to stick it in soooooo far this time. LOL..... I have not tried your method of body painting. I don't wear it as well as you. Feels too gooey. LOL mike
  8. Thanks for the info Bobby. I will put in the pre-flight planning, see what happens. Looking back at your first post, you asked what aftermarket paints have been used. I personally would not use anything but Ditzler by PPG formerly Dupont. If you don't have a gun, you can rent a good one. Its much better than a spray bomb anyway you look at it. And it's not hard to learn. My first job was on a door. I used half paint and half enamel reducer with a fish eye capsule. Sprayed it very early a.m. when the wind was not a factor in the garage. Ten minutes between each coat. Went to bed....got up late that morning and lo and behold!!!!!! their was a candlefly stuck in my paint job. I was sick for a few minutes until I calmed down. I took my fingernail and scrapped the candlefly out until it was nothing but a pinhead speck. I'm really glad I didn't contiue with the spray bomb that I used on that same door and jamb. Later mike
  9. Guys I guess that I would have to trade the ole dog on the hood of my B for a set of hers. Actually she would look kind a good up there. The old B would sure get plenty of stares that way. I would love to pull in Hwy. 50 Drive-in with that in the drivers seat. Be the first time I got in for free. mike
  10. Hey Bobby, I did get your message but, when I tried to reply, the television went out, also the computer would not respond. It gave me an error message that I tried to correct but at no success. When I came back after the power came back on, the message was gone. But I did get to read it. Sorry for your loses. Glad you can pop back and let the B help put some quality time in the void areas. My first truck event was last year near Louisville,Ky, I believe it was Shepherdsville. Anyway it was a small town on the west side of I-65 south of town in a park. I joined AHTS but they probably won't show the small local events. I would like to be posted on the Kentucky truck and tractor shows when they come up. For Now mike
  11. Tom, Where can I obtain a Thermodyne like those emblems? I haven't seen anything like that except on TV for just a moment at Hefners house. mike
  12. This past friday morning I called Kevin with all macks and purchased his used set of emblems. I'm just waiting on UPS truck to bring them monday. So what you are saying.....is the old emblems are trash. G/f needing me got ta go. mike
  13. Rob, Send me the hat if you'd like, I have a neighbor that has a couple of dogs that need someting to crap in so maybe they can quit doing it in my yard. mike
  14. I've flown in at Lexington before. Nice airport..... I just could not understand how two pro pilot's that have flown in there many times could take off on the wrong runway. Since that one incident, all of the general aviation aircraft have to use their heading bugs at all times. But I agree with the FAA, everyone should use them. I'm sorry for the family's. Any way on a better note. Where I work we have a girl editor that is from Lexington, Ky. her name Erin Curry. A real asset to us. As with your B Model glad to hear you got yours finally. Sounds just like my story, check it out in my profile sometime. I was crazy about trucks, but the B's were my favorite. Keep us posted on your progress. I'm interested in your endever. Also when you can, post those pictures. We crave pictures on here so we can see what you see. Thanks for posting mike P.S> What is your first name?
  15. Kevin, I have several broken B Model emblems that I found today. They have great chrome but cannot see how I can use them. I was told to try a clear silicone sealer. I can't see that doing a good job holding them letters on a vibrating vehicle. I'll take the emblems by monday evening, local machine shop to see what they suggest. I could use some good luck once in awhile. mike
  16. If you look under the dash or heater may have a part that you can take with you to your favorite body shop, they can match the part you brought them. This may sound strange to you, but it can work if you can find a part to take with you. Some trucks were painted the company colors. All B Models were painted the green inside unless special ordered by a customer. As with any other trim on that truck. Keep us posted on your improvements so we can enjoy it with you. Best Regards! mike
  17. Rob, I was getting worried about you. Thought MOMMA dun sompin to ya head. Ya got a fever. Hope ya did'nt sleep too close to a crack. LOL..... Hope ya get to feeling better soon. It was getting rather flat around the site without ya humor and charm. Sorry, got to check on the boiler in this building. mike
  18. I'm tempted to but if you noticed, looks as if you have to buy their rods. I'll call them when I see a phone number. I have several emblems that need to be salvaged, but until I have it mastered, i'll have to stay with the basics. I'll have to check with my local machine shop and see if they know about this process. Someone out there may know about this, but are staying quiet. I won't give any names out, to keep from being called a name dropper. We do have some GURU"S in our mack society, you know. I haven't heard from in a few days. They may be working on some radar equipment, or fixing a plumbing job. Stay tuned for more ACTION and ADVENTURE. mike p.s. Do you go by LocomotiveBreath, or do you have a first name?
  19. Try that web-site out. You can see a short video of their process. mike
  20. Guys I'm using a 12 volt charger on a 12 volt battery with 2 and 6 amp. charge option. I have a 24 volt start system and 12 volt truck. I have the original set-up for my B61 with series- paraell switch. Am charging one battery at a time still hooked up to it's terminals. Has been working ok. Have not tryed to start it yet. Will do so when the weather is better. Thanks for the replys!!! mike
  21. Has anyone heard of or tried a product called Muggy Weld? if you go to their web-site you will see it being done. They are rejoining broken parts for re-use. No need to throw away that broken emblem etc. They use a propane torch, flux solder and Super Alloy 1. mike
  22. Now Rob you know I liked that answer you gave me. With me something to do with the water around here...... maybe too much limestone in my coffee must go to my head. LOL mike
  23. I'll be glad when I can meet MOMMA someday. From the picture you posted earlier of MOMMA you may surprise her with a new RAZOR since V-Day is coming up. And since she bought you a gift thats always a great gift to buy. Ladies are always talking about this subject........LOL mike
  24. Rob, You would be great behind a parts counter at the local Auto Zone. And I also should build a fire under the truck to get the coolant and oil hot so it will start easier. LOL.............. Rob thats why we LOVE you when you come up with the best solutions. LOL.......... I'll post the results much later! Tell Momma hello from the BOYS...... LOL mike
  25. For the 673 engine what pressure cap poundage was or is used for the 673 with standard 48 quart radiator? I bought a 7lb. as was told by the NAPA truck parts person. The MACK Dealer said 10lb. Can someone clear this up for me? Thanks mike
