  6. I'll go for the booby prize and say the cotter pin was to keep the nut from becoming lost. Many of those air cleaners had a cup mounted for ether to be used to help start those ole B Models during the winter months. Oh! Make sure if I win the booby that it is examined by a pro before shipping it to me. Thx mike
  7. Robert, It is in the Electrical, Electronics and Lighting Section of BMT dated Nov. 17th and 29th of 2012. Your Post. mike
  8. Wow, Tom you sent me an e-mail last week for the 1st time since you took me off of your BMT FRIENDS List about 6 months ago. You also told me that I had been the only person on BMT to send this Old Bill money. Why send me anything about needing a DONATION when I have a mother in Critical Care with Dementia in the hospital?I don't think i'm the one you need at this crucial time. So don't try and rub me the wrong way. Like some do on this site with each other. I did wish this Old Bill my regards. mike
  9. Congratulations Larry.....when is the PARTY? mike
  10. Hey Hat. It is a great tool to have for any big truck. I bought it several years ago and is a must have tool for joints. It is fast for removal and installs easy also. mike
  11. Glad you are hanging onto a great truck. Lots of help here. You could start with the Mack Museum. With a small donation, you can have all the info about your truck just by giving them your VIN# Then wait for your packet to come in the mail. Ebay is where most of us get the Manuals etc.Unless you can inherit them form someone you know. Best Regards mike
  12. I just talked to my Chrome Plater. He could not understand why your plater would not strip it for you, majority companies do. They can get the old plating off for themselves and start from a new base, then start layering it. They are responsible for how it turns out for the customer. Only suggesting........find another Plater. Oh! one more thing. If it is a Gold Plated part then it will be a copper base only and layered until smooth enough to Gold Plate. To keep it looking new longer, use a clear urethane or the Gold will rub off easier. If you can still find it use Krylon Crystal Clear it is cheaper than the urethane automotive clear. Happy Hunting! mike
  13. Ken sorry I'm late. I was going to suggest a black powder coating. I have found it is very durable and will last longer than we will be around. I'm actually using this method on my truck and glad I can. This durable method is important to me because I have seen this wear on flat paint on many vehicles and are needing paint about each five years. mike
  14. Happy B Day! Just be careful what you eat. Smell of it first. mike

Looks like you could use a gallon of Rust-EZ. Best Regards mike
  17. Ken, Do you mind if I ask why you want to paint with flat black? Is it because it came that way from the factory? mike
  18. I use NAPA. com lookup Commercial Trucks. It shows several filter sizes. Note these are WIX Filters. The ones I'm listing here for the 1978 Mack with ENDT676 oil filters are as follows: 1791 XD 7791 Extra Eff. 1791 XE Hi Eff. If you look into each categories you will see sizes of each filter and probably find what you may need. mike
