  1. I think of him as a good guy. I could not imagine what anyone on here could have said, if so, to bring closure to a person with his knowledge of the trucks. I know in some of his threads that he would support a member on BMT from a discrepency from another member at times. He at least would try to be a good moderator. That is the way I saw him. I really enjoyed teasing with or about him, especially the Road Kill Cafe. I think he took most everything very well. He knew that I ment him no disrespect or insults. Best Regards Rob mike
  2. Ron, are these some special neoprene rubber? mike
  3. Achiefire, Have you thought that maybe the person that owned the vehicle before you, might be wanting to sell the engine and transmission that it had in it? Anything is possible in this world. Maybe just a little research could make it possible. If not, then this BMT site has some of the best people around. They can sure give you help and ideas as to your restoration. The main thing to do is, sit down and make a list of your needs and make sure that you know what you want to do with this fire truck. Charlie Hatfield is another person that can be of help with your concerns. Charlie is from Louisville, Ky. And has many years of fire truck experience. Best regards in your decision. mike

  6. For several days now I have been needing some fisheye reducer for paint. So I call the local auto parts store to see if they have what I need. So the closest O'Reiley store did not have it and tell me the other store has it . So I drive to the next closest store down the street to Advance Auto parts. They don't have a clue as to what I'm needing, so I drive to the next O'Reily store about seven miles from me. So I inquire about the fisheye reducer and they look for it which takes the guy about twelve minutes to find. He comes out with this pint can and tells me the cost will be $24.98. Gee whiz....man I did not want to buy the store. So I tell him I'll try locate it some where's else. Does anyone see how this is costing me? Trying to make a long story short and taking me several days to find.........I finally find the stuff online and I windup having to go back to this guy because the paint store is tooooooo damn expensive. The same guy finds it the next day for $12.98 for a 6 oz. bottle. I'm telling him that I use to get capsules of the same stuff at any parts store for nothing. Yes nothing, even the paint stores would give it to you. So do you guys see how everything we do is costing the heck out us. I probably wasted several gallons of fuel just trying to locate the item. mike

  21. I've been on board the USS Alabama several times. Last time I saw her in 2003 they had built a coffee dam around her. I'm assuming they are painting the bottom and possibly putting it on dry land. Yes Mark it does make a person proud of their country when you see what giant machines were made by our country men and women. It amazes me how many were aboard these vessels. It was a city on water. I found most amazing the was the powder room and men wearing white anti-static suites, boots, hoods and gloves. The powder rounds for the 16 inch guns looked like the size of 2 fifty gallon drums. That should lob a shell about 20 miles. mike
  22. The cicadis should be gone. They come every seven years. Had killed my Dogwood tree in 2011. Have seen none thus far. How old is that photo? mike
  23. Hey Mark, Where had the New Jersey been? I thought all WW2 battleships were decommisioned long ago and sent to scrap or in museum parks. mike
  24. My g/f told me that she will not go to the Drive-in Movies with me when I get my B Model fixed. She said it would embarress her. I don't understand that crap. Anybody got any solutions? I thought all wimmins like Macks. Yeah....better hold on to her. mike
