  1. Both trucks looks very good. Awe....go ahead and buy both . That way you won't miss out on either deals. I'm sure it is hard to find a Mack that nice just anywhere. Good Find mike
  2. Might know that I would forget the all important (POINT'S).......they can be closed and or pitted and give you fits. It is a good idea to check the dwell on your points. I used to take and use a small file to get the burrs off if I had no new points to install. Always install a new condenser when buying new points. They use to come in the same box. Best regards mike
  3. This is very interesting to me since i'm also a pilot. Too bad the NTSB reports do not give the probable cause of this accident. My first guess is weather related.....fog and spatial orientation. When we have safety meetings at BNA, several times per year, it is an extensive event. But the knowledge has to be applied, the next time a pilot flies. Problem with this is......did the safety meeting soak in to the brains of a pilot? And how much did the pilot learn at the meeting? It is fact, that majority of the time it is pilot mistake or error and not maintenance related. Thanks for sharing. mike
  4. Quick!!!!!! hide all B Models. mike
  5. He did say in an earlier post that the carb. had been rebuilt. I just figured that anyone that rebuilds, rebuilds everything about it. Even to the point of soaking it in carb cleaner and blowing it out of all orfices. You do have a good point tho. I personaly would not just put a new gasket on without doing everthing else to it wether it needed it or not. I'll be glad to here how this situation turns out for this fellow. mike
  6. Ok, Have Spark, Fresh Fuel, Battery Ok. Is the spark weak or strong? And i'm assumeing the timing is correct. The valves are opening and closing, both intake and exhaust. I'm also still wondering if the manifold is clear of nests and such from buildup, not letting air out and or in the cylinders? Have you ever tried to put fuel inside of each sparkplug hole and screwed them back in and tightened them, then try to fire it off? I have done this with good results. Starting fluid is ok in a pinch, but use sparingly. mike
  7. Let's see now, scratching of small head. 1. Good Battery, no fire, no smoke. 2. Spark getting to plugs, lay attached wires with plugs on manifold for testing spark. 3. Clean or unobstructed manifold, no varmints home. 4. Good Clean Fuel 5. Primed Fuel Pump, making sure fuel pumps to carburetor into manifold. 6. Ether on standby, and use small amount. 7. Friends Supervision, Optional. 8. BMT Mack-site help. 9. Cold Beverage 10. Lounge Chair 11. Lots of Luck 12. Winfall Wimmins. 13. Lots of Money. Hope this helps alittle. mike

  12. Just absolutely too nice. If I was to go custom then I'd put a Rolls Royce V 12 in it and run six pipes out the hood. Ahh chrome, yeah. mike
  13. I talked with Doug this past Thursday. I thought he would never come back from Florida. He has another job there that pays very well. He runs a suntan lotion stand and has come up with his own ingredients. He covers a square mile and goes down the beach rubbing suntan lotion on the well to do ladies. I had called him back in January but he told me he was busy and to call him back when he got home in May. And said he was so busy with these ladies that his hands were getting sore and will probably have to call on Vinny to help next year. Sure sounds like this job is going to get interesting. mike
  14. When driving home from work, there is this old 50's trailer that already has a single door cut into the side. Mid-Tenn Salvage. I don't know if it is a single or tandem setup. I cannot catch them open. mike

  25. One bad thing about brake fluid is you have to paint any place that stuff gets on or into. My dad had been checking a master cylinder of one of his cars. Another one of his cars was sitting beside it, when he decided to pump the brake pedal on the first car. Suddenly fluid squirted onto the hood and fender of the opposite car. It took the paint down to the metal he said later. I saw that day, a very dissatisfied man. mike
