  1. I guess it was for headroom and available space for turnout gear. It is hard to drive a closed cab fire truck with a helmet on. Before the days of GPS, cell phones and street addresses, the fire fighters may have had to look to the sky to see exactly where the fire was they were on their way to fight. A closed cab would certainly interfere with visibility. I remember the first open cab I rode in. It was a Mack C-85 that our local fire company was interested in purchasing. Dad was driving and I was riding along with the wind blowing through my hair. As cold as it was that day, I immediately became a fan of closed cab trucks.
  2. The C was built between 1963 & 65. There were 1064 C-609's built. If you weren't aware. You can contact the Mack Trucks Historical Museum with your serial number for information on your truck. A donation for their efforts is suggested. They can be contacted at: The Mack Trucks Historical Museum Don Schumaker, Curator 2402 Lehigh Parkway South Allentown, PA 18103 Telephone: +1 610 351-8999 Fax: +1 610 351-8756
  3. Yep, lunch on Friday as well. What the flyer says... With so much going on, I am having trouble keeping track. Now I have hooters and kilts on my mind too. Doug
  4. I don't think everyone registered for Mack Trucktoberfest. If you haven't, there is still time. You have until the end of the day tomorrow, 10-12, to sign up. Come out and join us! Please review the flyer, dinner on Friday, lunch on Saturday and fun the whole time.
  5. Yes, it is a Friday. Which reminds me of a joke... What kind of meat do preists eat on Friday, nun.
  6. I suggest you contact the museum and let them know that you will attend dinner on Friday. The dinner on Friday is where there will be recognition handed out for the events on Friday and several other items of interest. I still think you should have kilts and hooters on your mind, just after the Mack dinner. I may even join you!
  7. Guys, Dinner is at the Mack Customer Center on Friday night. Mack is hosting the event for us club members. I urge you to attend the Mack dinner and have yours Saturday night. Thanks, Doug
  8. Friday night is the dinner at the Mack Customer Center. Did you mean Saturday night?
  9. I am the one in the maroon Superliner shirt by the cab of Big Orange.
  10. BTW, Thanks to all who supported my daughters class selling sub meals. They sold out and had people looking for more. It is hard to judge the quantity due to weather and turnout. Thank you for your support. Doug
  11. Mack Days 2012 - The Mack Brothers Clam Bake Re-enactment is history once again. We had a fantastic turnout, wonderful friends and terrific food. This year in addition to the historical aspect of the clam bake, we had a special added treat. 2012 marks the 80th year of the Bulldog hood ornament on Mack Trucks. The Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the Antique Truck Club of America did a fantastic job making sure the event was a success. Thanks
  12. Over the years of devised a plan for getting my wife out of bed early. All you have to do is snuggle up close, whisper in her ear and her feet hit the floor.
  13. Barry, Are you coming to the Mack Brothers Clam Bake?
  14. Brad, It appears from the photo what you have it a pretty decent B-model. Location does mean a lot due to high shipping costs. Other contributing factors, when was it last started and driven, tire condition, and all of the regular vehicle stuff. There is a show this weekend in Lititz, PA that is specifically aimed at Mack Trucks. If you were within a reasonable distance of the show, it would be advantageous for you to create a flyer and pass it around at the show. It could also be advertised in Double Clutch the magazine of the Antique Truck Club of America or other publications. If you would like any more info, feel free to message me. Doug
  15. Hey Mack fans, My daughter, Erica, and her fellow 10th graders will be selling a complete lunch at Gerharts as a fundraiser for their class. The lunch will consist of: Sub, your choice of ham, turkey or italian Bag of potato chips Bottle of water Dessert After dinner mint All of this for only $7.00 It will be set-up as Grab & Go, so you can enjoy the show. Please consider supporting the Linden Hall class of 2015 with your donation and in return you get to enjoy a great lunch. They will be located in the vendor area. Thanks and have a safe trip!
  16. I dropped the envelope for Vinny in the mail. Thanks though! Friday's weather does look great and depending on which station you look at, Saturday doesn't look too bad. I am watching the station that calls for late day rain into Sunday.
  17. Less than a week away! The weather is looking good.
  18. If you look at the rest of the specs, It appears as if they don't know what they have. 18 front and 44 rears?
  19. Vinny, Make sure you look me up when you get there. I have a few things to give you that you should appreciate.
  20. Me too! Maybe we'll see each other!
  21. We had a meeting last week with the powers-that-be, things seem to be figured out. There are a few special treats for all of us to enjoy. I went to the store tonight and bought water, ordered the roast beef and will be working on getting the rest of the stuff ordered for the Mack Brothers Clam Bake Re-enactment. It should kick off about 5:00pm on Friday. The cost of the spread is covered by your donations. All we ask is that you contribute what you would if you would have gone out to eat and were able to enjoy a high quality buffet like we offer. Remember, we are just antique truck fans keeping history alive for all of us. The Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the ATCA hosts the clam bake, but the up front costs comes out of just a few pockets. Consider this when you are perusing the door prize table, listening to the band or munching on some shrimp. Hope to see you there.
  22. That's funny, I don't remember making that offer to you. I guess it still stands! We can do the paperwork at Mack Days in two weeks. Be careful driving the Magnum to Lititz and I don't think I'll even have a chance to drive the wife before the swap.
  23. The show is Friday & Saturday, you may come & go as necessary. Space will be limited on Friday due to employees still working at the MCC. If you have work on Friday, come Saturday or if you have plans Saturday, come Friday.
  24. Fellow Mack enthusiasts, It is with great pleasure that I share the official invitation for the first Mack Trucktoberfest. This is an event to show appreciation to antique truck club members that support the antique truck hobby. You must be a member of ATCA, ATHS or SPAMFA in order to participate. All makes of trucks are invited to be displayed. Please refer to the flyer for information. If you have any additional questions feel free to ask. I suggest you get your registration in as soon as you can, depending on the feedback there may be some restriction as to the number of attendees. October 12th is the deadline! Doug
