  6. From the album: Going, going, gone...

A solid truck, original to the clipboard hanging on the dash that listed the last jobs the former owner completed, in 1982. Flathead V-8, a true survivor.
  7. From the album: Going, going, gone...

I used this truck for several moves and retrievals. Just a classic.
  8. Barry, Tell Jim, "If you need any parts, I know a guy." HeHe Doug
  9. I have my Superliner V-8 and my trailer through Gulfways. My other trucks I have through JC Taylor, I don't know if they are adding big trucks anymore. Condon and Skelly also write trucks, a few of the guys around here have them.
  10. is just plain Truckin' Nuts!

  11. Hey Bullhusk, If you want to hear these run, check out my post with the video link. http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?showtopic=13753&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1
  12. I suggest you check out the flea market at the ATCA National Meet, June 18 & 19 in Macungie, PA. I would think there will be several there to choose from.
  13. This vintage should be the old style half-dog that is standing on all four unlike the new style which stands on its rear legs. I suggest you contact Dave at American Industrial Truck Models, he would be the one that I can think of that would be able to help the most. www.aitruckmodels.com The new style Mack Bulldog was included on the later model kits but, the old style dog was never mass produced in a kit. Good Luck
  14. I think this is pretty much figured out, Dan has the specifics. Basically what it comes down to is the R-700 had the standard R style hood (eastern) and the RS/RL-700 had the hood with the body lines turned back toward the windshield (western). Bobbed fenders, battery box configuration, grille surround panel and aluminum bumper are the easy things to look for on a Western. This top of hood design was used on Value-liners which I believe were all Western models.
  15. Wow a Mack in California! It looks like you have a great project going there and for all of the right reasons. With all of the environmental regulations that are born in California, how does that coal black smoke go over? How is the elimination of older vehicles affecting the hobby? Talk about getting worse in California, from what we were hearing all of the older stuff should have been small chunks on a slow boats to China.
  16. A generator was being moved from Three Mile Island to a barge in Maryland over the past weekend. I caught the set-up parked along 441 above Marietta PA. Check out the web link, when it comes up, click to view the video, the little news chippy finds out how loud 16V-71 Detroit Diesels can be. It is a good laugh! My link
  17. The intake was raised to get fresh, clean air. I don't know if it had to be ordered specially or if certain models just came that way, like P (straight truck) chassis that may be used for dump or mixer work. They would be used off road more than most and need to get the dust free air. If a tractor was going to be used as a vocational truck the higher intake may have been possible to special order. Maybe someone knows for sure, lets wait and see.
  18. First things first, anything is possible! A Superliner hood will not fit an R-model, without alot of work. 1. Length of the hoods are different. 2. Cowl shape on a Superliner is square for the hood seat, an R has the hood contour along the cowl for the hood seat. 3. Hinge arrangement is different. 4. ... Like I said anything is possible. You could change an R's cowl panels and attempt to shorten and widen a Superliner hood to fit but it would be alot of work. If you want a Superliner, buy a Superliner. Happy hunting.
