  1. I will clean these grounds I’ve cleaned the engine ground before but I will do it again where is this ground breaker in the bulletin and the ones on the dash?if there isn’t a lightning bolt on the dash will it retrieve this code if I use the cruise control or do they have to be active to do that?
  2. No that’s what’s strange I don’t recall a lightning bolt coming on in the truck when it does this I’d don’t have a lot of knowledge of how the system does it’s diagnostics if it had a bad wire or a wire grounding out should I have a lightning bolt?
  3. If these wires are grounding out at the eups would there be a lightning bolt on the because it doesn’t have one on it was the dealer for three weeks trying to find it
  4. Dealer did all the work with the eups but I will take a look at the wires
  5. Yes it’s got a miss when idling it doesn’t really come and go idling it’s kind of like if you take off at one stop light it’s missing really bad next one not so much it’s obviously down on power as well it really seems electrical to me just because it’s intermittent but seems to be more frequent than it used to be where is the best place to check fuel pressure
  6. We have a 07 granite with a 370 and t310mr trans it’s had a random miss that’s been getting worse you run it hard loaded in town that’s when it’s the worst when it cools down it’s not as noticeable sometimes it even nearly goes away almost instantly we’ve changed nozzles and eups cleaned engine grounds it’s been at the dealer they can’t figure it out I have a 05 granite that has the same engine and transmission can I swap ecms to see if that helps or does anyone have any other ideas
  7. Yes my dealer told me to clean the engine grounds when it started but I’ll revisit it and read your posts
  8. I’m working on an 07 granite dump truck with a 370 engine it’s low miles at 210k and it’s got a miss when taking off at low rpm also when pulling a hill but it’s intermittent our Mack dealer has put all new injectors ,lines, eups ,and adjusted the valves before we did this work it had some injector codes that would come on from time to time now it doesn’t there not sure what to do now they said run it till it gets worse
  9. Well I think we’re gonna pull the trigger on the truck talked to the owner sounds legit so I’ll guess we’ll see kind of makes me feel like a traitor to go for a truck without a grey motor
  10. Well it’s sounds like it runs as good or better and I’ve got really good dealer support in my area do they have the low end power of the grey motor trucks
  11. I’m looking at a 2007 granite with a mp7 395hp we currently run grey motor granites 370 and 427 I’ve never been around any of the mp7 how will it run compared to our grey motor trucks all of these are tandem dump trucks
  12. I figured it out I think it was assembled wrong the last time someone had it apart. I made all the u joint the same as the other truck that has the same setup which made my steering wheel 90 degrees off then I took it loose at the steering box and recentered it I was rereading everybody comments and when looking at the shaft it was just like mackpro said they are like an 1/8 of a turn off I’ve been so frustrated with this I’m glad it’s fixed thanks guys
  13. I removed the whole shaft but didn’t disassemble the lower shaft carrier bearing etc I can move it probably a spline each way and still get the staking bolt in should I try to get them out of phase as much as possible . It just seemed odd that one u joint was shot and the others were tight wondering if the weld on the short shaft was some repair done that cause the first u joint the bind a wear prematurely i’m I think my next move is going remove the short shaft and carrier from the other truck and try it also going to verify that all the lines are installed the same as the other truck I’m out of other ideas
  14. I don’t think I could have put anything back different than it was it had staking bolts at the gear box at the top of the short shaft and up at where the shaft comes down from the column and the steering wheel is back where it was the only thing I’ve noticed is the yokes on the short shaft aren’t parallel there off just a bit probably if one’s at 12:00 the other is at 1:00 on our other truck they are in line .the mount on the steering box is a little different or I would try to swap it to.the weld that holds the short shaft into the bottom yoke at the steering box doesn’t look quite factory is it possible that the slack in the wore out u joint kept it from binding from someone welding the shaft in the bottom yoke a little out of phase if that makes sense to anyone
  15. Yes it has staking bolts in the shaft I removed and the other end has four splines I have the three joint steering shaft with the carrier bearing i replaced the middle joint in that shaft everything thing else on the shaft seemed to be good the reason I swapped the steering shaft with one off the other truck was I thought I might have bent a ear on the yoke installing the u joint I even installed the steering shaft I was working on in the other truck and it steered fine
  16. I’m working on our 03 granite this winter and I resealed the input shaft on the steering box put all new lines on it except for the pressure line and one new u joint on the steering shaft and now the steering is easy and then hard the whole time you steer it back and forth so I swapped the part of the shaft that I replaced the u joint out with one off another truck didn’t help so I put on a reman steering box still didn’t help also change the filter I’m out of ideas other than kingpins also the last guy that drove it before it come in the shop said it was fine before we worked on it
  17. new thermostat and fan clutch with a good radiator cleaning runs 190 loaded with ac on high egts are around 700 lesson learned don't believe the seller
  18. well the more we dig into it seems we would have been better off with no information than the bad information we got from the service manager cause the shop we got it into said the radiator that was suppost to be brand new was plugged full of dirt and the thermostat didn't seem right
  19. Well it appears that the service manager at the county shop We bought it from gave us some bad info the brand new inter cooler He said they just put on looked old and plugged and when I called him to ask for service records he said he put an oil cooler on it which is what he told me though needed to be done when we first talked about it his story keeps changing every time we talk fan seems weak gonna try one of those and see if it helps
  20. I’ m thinking the fan could be the problem cause it cools it just doesn’t cool enough when it’s loaded And it doesn’t seem as loud as the others is there any way to lock a viscous fan manually
  21. i have a feeling the gauge is right cause it will push out water if you let it get hot enough and the engine fan runs i haven't been around this truck much but the fan doesn't seem as noisey as some of the other granites we have is there a way to manuelly lock up the fan cause it kind of seems like a airflow issue cause if the truck is sitting the ac gets kind of warm but as soon as you get going it gets cold can the fan slip and not fully engauge?
  22. got a 2003 granite e7 427 dump truck just bought it with a known overheating issue it gets hot when loaded it has a new radiator, intercooler ,water pump ,and a thermostat when we got it home we replaced the oil cooler . it was drove home a thousand miles and only heated up in the mountains . its doesn't push out water unless you get it hot no oil in water or water in oil i can hear the fan kicking in and it stays in when it heats up the truck only has 350000 thousand miles on it the truck doesn't have a boost gauge it seems to run alittle high on the pyro it runs about 850 to 900 running down the road at highway speed up small grades but it doesn't smoke eccessively what direction do i need to head next
