  1. I thing this should qualify as a minimum requirement for recreational towing
  2. A-men brother! I don't think my truck was given any attention after the report was filed. I have gotton phone calls asking if I found my truck! Am I suppose to be looking? They are the ones with the access to records that I can't get. I think they made one phone call to Bob, took his statement, and that was it. I told them of my suspicions and I have never heard from the officer that took the report. I know that there are bigger crimes in the area but I refuse to let them take this file off as I want it to be a reminder of the unsolved issues that the current administration has. I hope that the state will question them eventually about the open crimes in the county. Sorry for the soap box rant.
  3. PICTURES! We want pics!! Rob is correct about the rarity issue. The "50" series are the largest of the A's. They went 20, 30, 40, 50. There were sub units like H, S, T, but I don't think that a lightweight "L" was ever made. My truck is an A30H. I think the bus chassis may have had a "B" as the sub designation. As ever I may completely wrong as I am often told by my partner at work (female) and my wife . As with other Mack iron the even numbers are gas engine and the odds are diesel. An A51S would be as follows; A model, 50 series, diesel, six wheel. If it was a 51T it would be a diesel tractor. I don't know what the "H" designation stood for as I only speculate quietly as the other voices in my head become annoyed Let us know about this find and update as to options like tranny, rear-end, etc.......
  4. I can really feel for you. My '47 Dodge PowerWagon was stolen from a storage lot. The guy that I did repo's with was keeping it on his lot for me and he said someone showed up one day to get it for me. I think the guy ( Bob ) that was storing it for me got tired of looking at it and sold it. He knew at that time that I had nowhere else to keep it. The sherrif took a report and now every year they call me to confirm that it is still missing. Am I suppose to be looking? Bob has moved and I haven't been able to locate him. I don't care if he sold it or not, I just want the truck back. The whole story is on the PowerWagon Advertiser Forum, look in the "1 Ton section" for the title "stolen". There are also stories about my truck and how I got it under "Why I like Dodges and How I got Started", look for "2 free PW's". Sorry to carry on but I get very upset about stolen classics and incompetent sherrif's office.
  5. Rob, the towing company that I worked for last year has 2 new Dodge trucks. The first is a 4500 2wd and the second is a 5500 4x4. They only had 2 issues that I am aware of. First is when it decides to do a particulate burn-off, HOLY SHIT the smoke it makes!!!! People behind you will be furious. You wont see anything in your mirrors but white smoke. First time it happened to me I actually thought something blew up. The other issue was a delayed start. The brains thought the truck had a delayed start and it threw a code. Nothing ever happened, just a code. The key doesn't activate a starter relay like older trucks. I was told "The key places a request to start to the computer, and it allows a start if everything is OK". They are both Cummins 6.7 with the 6 speed auto tranny. Cool thing is the steady power, pulls hard but not rough. I really liked the engine brake. It would come on, slow the engine, lock the torque convertor, downshift, etc., till you were at about 10-15 mph. When it was on you knew it, not harsh, but it was definately there, you felt it. It would slow better than a gas engine. It was like steady brake pressure! They ran great, docile on the highway, rode smooth for being bigger Dodge trucks. The biggest turn off is that particulate burn. The owner was told that it did the burn so soon because of the fuel crap, sulfer deal. They were getting 10-12 mpg average.
  6. Re-fixed again!
  7. Yes it could be done on a "B". How cool would that be, maybe a bulldog image, or a pic of your truck in your truck! Just one issue, how deep is your wallet? Not my thing though. First time I jumped in there with muddy boots,............... Looks good, practicallity is nill.
  8. I may be wrong here but didn't the B85's have a big squared off style of grill shell ? Is it definately a 707? Or as suggested someone put parts on, or you have a one off oddball that was custom ordered.
  9. I dont know much about RCA radio's but it may say on the back what the frequency is . That will give you an idea of what band it is, VHF Low, VHF High, or UHF. Any VHF low radios are not worth much but the others are. It will probably be usless to a ham operator as public service is different than ham and the radio may not be able to be set-up on ham frequencies. Post on here what it is and any pics if you have. You could try the new flea-market sale area on this forum.
  10. I like the green one. Mine is red with the factory winch on the front. At least it was red the last time I saw it.
  11. RED! RED! RED! , seriously though, I think some fire departments used the standard Mack red and some used a different shade or "specification" of red. I don't think any bright red would be wrong. Seats were another story. It could have been a driver seat with a passenger seat, driver with a tool box, or bench seat. Mine had a slider under the driver seat and a fixed passenger seat. I think mine had the tool box from the factory and a passenger seat was added later when it was converted to a fire truck. It now sports a leather bench from a Dodge Caravan
  12. I will admit that I don't know a thing about AC's but I am glad that you are saving her. I love the look of the old AB series myself but I still respect the AC for what it is and represents. Some of the little things might be a challenge to find and you might have to resort to other makes for similar items. A lot of things from then were common with all truck makes like switches, knobs, handles, lights, etc..... Good luck with it as you have a very solid foundation there.
  13. Glad to have another from down under!!! Lurking is OK but involement is better. Yes there is a lot of emotion here.
  14. Could ya swing through Fairfield Iowa and get me an old PowerWagon to replace my stolen one !!!! I'll gladly pay you on tuesday for a truck today!
  15. Just wanted to let you know that we moved a 745lb patient on Friday. He went from one nursing home to another. Move was about 25 miles but it is still a nursing home that we have a contract with. It was a 6 person lift that is done in 2 movements. Crappy thing is that he sits in a wheelchair but we dont have a lift on our vans that have a high enough capacity! By the way, he graduated the same year as Larry! I am not trying to be an ass Rob but I want you to be aware of what can come with your weight if you don't get under 300! Holidays are OVER!!!! No excuses now!!! Stop with the sweet tea and adult beverages and be a little more responsible for your self. You have a wonderfull family and you could be putting a lot of strain on them in the future.
  16. I am tring to put up another pic but I keep getting "File too large"
  17. This was the day I bought her. Notice the changes(minor) that I have done. Not a in the background!
  18. Jury is out ? I want to know how they could even seat a jury of your peers!
