  1. I think you should have planted more!!! Did the rabbits leave any for Rob when he comes for the hood? Wait..........., garden, vegetables, Rob,..........., nevermind.
  2. It sounds like you have two issues. First is timing, second is the carb. If it isn't right she will stumble and not pull hard vacuum. If timing is off it wont get a good burn on time and not get good cylinder refill "vacuum". Same for the carb, too rich or lean, not a good burn, etc. I would rebuild that carb first and set it with a good vacuum gauge. Then go after the timing. It might be as stupid as plug wires crossfiring, I had that happen on a 1978 PowerWagon.
  3. Had a great time Thursday night Rob! Man I don't know how you can do it. I barely got 4 hours of sleep. It was good to see you, but seriously, you do need to watch your weight. I told you about the 500 pounder that died. The next time I see you I don't want it to be as I give my condolences to Mamma and stare at you in a box. I know it is difficult but you do have friends to talk to.
  4. Larry has a small dent on his "B" hood, know anybody that has one?
  5. It locks the front axle to the rear axle, not the left to right. It sounds like it was working as designed. If you need ALL wheels pulling then get a differential locker.
  6. It's sad to say but you may have to get an attorney or politician on your side to argue for you .
  7. First thing that you need to check is your timing. Make sure that it is advancing as RPM's increase. There are springs inside under the cap that control the advance rate. Next thing to consider is that the carb is probably due for a rebuild. It sounds like your accelerator pump in the carb isn't working right. It is there to give a "boost" of fuel when you hit the throttle. The popping noise would be present with or without the hose in place. It would probably just be muffled. Don't run without your air-cleaner hooked up! My truck makes a popping noise when it is cold and I try to take off. After she warms up it is fine. I run my carb a bit on the rich side cause I don't want a possible lean condition. Your carb may be running ''fat" and causing some of that. Check the easy things first, timing, then look into the springs, then go after the carb.
  8. Are ya' gonna swing through Ohio and get the floor jack?
  9. The EN-330 is a tough engine. Unless it is knocking or smoking, it is always something simple. Timing and carb are the two things that need looked at. I rebuild my Zenith carb every 2-3 years, probably because it is hardly driven. Be sure you have good points and other ignition parts. Also don't forget the lead additive in your fuel with a dose of stabilizer. NAPA should have (or order) all the tune up stuff you need. Get the number off of the distributor to be sure, but my local NAPA looked up everything from the engine size alone! If you need the NAPA numbers, I have them.
  10. Try calling Adelman's in Canton, Ohio. The number is 330-456-0206 or 330-456-3130. A few years ago they were parting out some old Chicago FD trucks that were Mack. I bought a Mars 888 light for $20 and only had to put a new lens on it. I don't know if the trucks are still there but it is worth a phone call. It is kind'a kool having a piece of CFD history knowing I took it off the truck!
  11. That's the same year as Larry!! Maybe you two did ride the same bus.
  12. The Coroner report came in on Friday and it is offically ruled SIDS. The family is very relieved as this ends any doubt and should expedite the return of the 2 year old from childrens services. I again say a deeply heartfelt thank you to everyone here.
  13. That's cause she was two tired, get it? Two tired, nevermind.
  14. It looks like an inner and outer hub rotating separetely but would lock when the brakes were applied. Don't need it now cause of super singles. I think the "Power 5th Wheel" had a gear mounted on the side that would engage a gear on the trailer. The hydraulic pump would be mounted on the trailer and driven by that gear set-up, no need for a wet-line on the truck.
  15. Truck? What truck? I didn't see no truck!
  16. So now he has an associates degree in high school?
  17. Now 'ur thinking that Rob would go to school!
  18. If you do a 12 volt jump disconnect the fuel gauge!!!!! Pull the fuse for it or you will FRY the gauge. Lights will be OK for a jump. The fuel gauge is the only electric gauge in the truck. I would also check your base timing and look to see your points are good.
  19. Welcome to the group Don't get in the middle of that Rob and Other Dog arrggyment!
  20. I have to work Sat. till 3:30 and Faith just ain't ready yet for the road . Hoping to have her ready for the Memorial day parades. Larry, I might swing by and see Rob. We could still plan lunch but Rob will have to pay his own bill, I can't afford that !!
  21. Sounds like maybe a fuel pump shut-off? Power is off when engine stop is pullled> shut off fuel. Power on/off with ignition switch> fuel control. May have been a booster pump to make up for a weak lift pump.
  22. I heard about him dying under the truck the other day. News wasn't real clear on what happened. Sounded like truck rolled or something fell on him. Like I said the news was not accurate. Did not know about him being a Mack fan. My prayers are with his family as I have had my share of misfortune this year.
  23. NICE!!!!!!!!! Every year on the 3rd weekend in August there is a tractor show in Dover,Ohio. They have everything from little hit-miss engines to riding mowers to the big steam tractors. We take Faith there and camp/display. It is always a good time with great people.
  24. You need Rob to sit on your fifth wheel plate to make it ride smooth!
  25. Welcome to the funny farm. We always apreciate people with a different view to things. It will usually help us see things differently. I am glad for your safety though, 'cause you don't have a Mack then that Rob fella wont lurk around your place for truck parts.
