  1. "christ i might park it on the side of the road and let the coon's wreck it out" This has to be the quote of the week. I'll bet it means something a whole lot different here than over there.
  2. Gary, Welcome. You'll find a good group of guys here. I'll give you a starter question just to make you feel at home. I have a Mack 4x4 with a Kelsey-Hayes front axle. It has a 18123. The closest rear I can find is a 18121. They both have the same casting number (106402). Are they the same? Can a single axle rear be used in the front (steering) axle? It looks the same, only rotated 180 degrees. Why does the transfer case have a different ratio to the front than the rear? Thanks.
  3. There was one in Macungie when I toured the plant in June.
  4. There's one on Ebay for $200.
  5. You've found the best source available, all you need to do is read this forum. Beyond that search "Mack" on Ebay for all kinds of books and manuals. And, take a ride about 25 miles up the road to Gerhart's a week from Saturday.
  6. MACK BLACK 1987 SUPER LINER RW600 18,119 MILES AC/HEAT, AM/FM RADIO/TAPE BOSTROM AIR SEATS MORE INFO COMING SOON $12,500 This is how it's listed on the sellers website.
  7. If your not getting power to the harness check for power in and out of the switch. 13 years is about one life time for those switches.
  8. Over here the "Bush Turkeys" knock on your door at truck stops.

    About Right:

"Bout sums it up." Here's a few more.
  10. Looks great. I haven't thought of a CH as "old". Hard to believe they've been around for more than 20 years now.
  11. Sounds like the problem is the bolts, not the hitch.
  12. That one and two others in the area.
  13. Lipstick on a pig. The worst thing I've pulled is a 30 yd compactor from Golden Corral after it sat in the 100 degree sun for a week.
  14. Between the unions, the NYFD, the NYPD, The Port Authority, and organized crime, IF this $100 million building ever gets build it will cost $500 million by the time it's finished.
  15. "any suggestions" How about a new dealer.
  16. If you don't have a cage, wrap a chain through the wheel and around the tire a couple of times as JD 5020 said. Or you can mount them on the drive axles and then fill with air. That way if the wheel comes apart the ring is stopped by the tire next to it. Many have been killed by airing up with the tire on the ground or the ring coming off a steering tire because the ring is on the outside.
  17. Also looks like you got your exhaust system back on the truck.
  18. You need know if the tires are 1100x22.5 or low profile.
  19. Daytons are tougher. The center hole in a Budd wheel won't fit over the axle flange on anything greater than a 44k axle (unless you have the special military 24" wheels with 13.25" bolt pattern).
  20. Those were the days when you could walk into the local Mack dealer and ask for something like a fan belt or a filter and didn't here "What's the VIN number?".
  21. Auxiliary trans are getting real hard to find. And the big ones (Spicer 1241 and Fuller 1202) are getting real expensive. Like 5k for a rebuilt. Depending on how you use the truck, you might get away with a 7 or 8000 series Spicer. They are in the 3500 to 6100 ft. lb. torque range and OD ratios of .75 to .86. With .75 you will run 67mph. With .86 you will run 58 mph. If your truck is a single axle you might consider a 2 sp axle.
  22. That's sad. At least they used Macks for the job.
  23. 83 days from today.
  24. This truck is a DM800. Not all RM's were all wheel drive.
