The employees need to seriously try to do a takeover of Mack. It has worked for Harley Davidson. AMF almost ruinated the HD brand as those bikes were not liked. It could be plausible. It would bring ownership back to the US and to the workers. The V truck corporation can kiss my US made, US buying, US gun owning, freedom of expression lovin ass!! I signed my name and took an oath to defend this country against all enemies foreign and domestic. I know other people here took that same oath. I try to buy as much made in the US as possible as a defense against the foreign takeover. VMA214 (Blacksheep Squadron), MAG 13, 3rd MAW, MCAS ElToro, California. I served, I vote, I am a consumer, I can bitch!

Well fellas I clicked on the first link that Mack 3P put up and I left a comment. I think that the PEOPLE of MACK need to know we the customers of Mack Trucks think that volvo's stupid move has not gone unnoticed and that we do not agree with it. Of coarse the people of Allentown, Pa. also need to know that We the customer don't agree either.

Matt :SMOKIE-LFT:

P.S. Make that two comments, I had to clarify to some folks with short term memories that Mack Trucks was at the time volvo bought them a wholly owned subsidiary of Renault of France andalso the the president of Mack Trucks is Dennis Slagle former C.E.O. of Volvo's construction equipment line. In other words a volvo drone. NOT A MACK MAN...A VULGERVO DRONE.

How F&%$ing stupid is Volvo? ALL production of Mack products should be done under one roof. I realize Highway production can be demanding but this is the same stupid reason the Vision and CH are the only sleeper trucks and have fewer options than the other products. Its like Volvo drew a line between the Vocational products and the Highway products.

Look at Kenworth, strong sales and every truck is multipurpose and very customizable. Hell even their T2000 can be heavy specked to a degree. T800 with big bore power, planetary axles sleeper needed, no problem! Double frame T2000 with tridrive axles? No problem. Volvo has been cuby-holing the Mack products just like they do woith their models. What if a company wanted a Vision with a 20K front, 52 rears on camel back, 20K lift axle and a sleeper for lowboy work? Not happening. You can get those specs on a Titan, Granite or MR but no sleepers. WTF!

Volvo is a company that does not give a damn about its customers. All they are concerned with is market share and stock holders. If they had a clue about the North American trucking industry they would be waiting hand and foot on their customers. Paccar knows this and does a damn fine job of it. Paccar would sell you anything you could dream up as long as there are off the shelf parts to build it. Paccar is king of the O/O market, the W900/389 are prestigious trucks to own. Volvo took a stab at that market with the VT but failed. I believe the VT failed because a Volvo is not looked upon as a prestigious truck to own like Paccar products are, maybe in Europe but not here. What Volvo fails to realize is they have a much more respected and firmly established brand name under their control (Mack) and should focous on that product line to generate sales. If they reintroduced the Superliner as a prestigious highway/vocational truck then they would have a winner. Give a more classic look but keep it aero. It isnt rocket science, just look at what Peterbilt did for their 2008 lineup. The Titan is an awesome addition to their line up but fails to capture any of the OTR sales which to me sounds like it could be a loss. Mack has no real highway truck to compete with the high end, the Vision and CH are nice but lack the ability to become a real presence on the road.

People in Allentown have always said volvo knows what the customer wants better then the customer.

The Mack options have decreased over the years that volvo has owned us. High rise sleepers, fairings, Wabco ABS to list a few. In reality volvo wants Mack out of the highway market. This is despite Mack being number one in the daycab makert prior to volvo. International's got to be smelling blood.

Same attitude General Motors had in the 1970's.

Look at them now.

Guys last year when I was trying to spec out a new truck the dealer couldn't get the truck speced out the way I wanted because the factory wouldn't do it that way. I wanted a 70 inch highrise sleeper with the stack on the side like the ch Rawhide..no go. So I said how about the midroof and side mounted stacks but I need double bunks ....and again they said no (Remember this factory rep was at volvo's New River Va. plant) However I could buy a vulgervo mid roof with double bunks they said. I told them I would rather have a Mack daycab. Hell they tried to get me to change my mind on the total Mack drive line...I said no Mack Drive line no sale. I wanted the Maxitorque 18 speed and the S440 rears with 3.63 ratio. Plus the Mack AL-40 airride...and I suppose unless I got a glider kit I would have had to put that P.O.S. vulgervo motor in it.

Thank god I didn't get it. With the way freight is right now I probably have lost it.

just out of curiosity, how do you think these type of comments are taken by people who work in the group trying to make the most of situation??? What do you propose they should do?? Pick up there bat and ball and go home?? OR try to work with it and keep the company and brand options an attractive option for customers??

How do I think... ok il try....

If I was working at a Mack truck dealer and we used a KW to drag in broke down Macks.. that would make us look like fools and that we dont think a mack is a very reliable truck. If I was working at ford dealer and used a Chevy to give test drives I would look like a fool. I own a mack because I have pride in them and invested intrest in making money with them. I never think about the share holder that has put his investment in the company. his investent will be gone as soon as he makes a buck off me buying more truck parts. The share holder should have little say in how things operate.or who can move company landmarks .Hell they dont even know how to check there oil in a car... If a company cant show respect to its own name what does that say about the company?

But Back to your question on what to do.....go pick up that bat and go find Mr Volvo CEO..and dont bring your ball or catchers mit.. thats what I would do!

capiche?

The people who are working in that situation have my sympathy.

It's got to be extremely frustrating for them.

Well I do care what Mack Employees feel concerning my comments...I do not want to make thing worse for them. However I have sent several E-mails to volvo and have Never received a response...and yes I can write a respectful letter ...even to volvo. They do not give a damn what the customer wants or needs unless it concerns a volvo truck. Many options that come standard on volvo over the road tractors you simply can not get on a Mack. They can't stand the competetion even in their own company.

I saw brand new Mack PINNACLE TRACTORS pulling for Tyson foods this week ...I haven't seen that in years. Maybe Tyson realised that the volvos are junk. First volvo talks Tyson into a sweet deal if Tyson buys volvo for their O.T.R. fleet and takes one of Mack's biggest O.T.R. customers...Well now we have come full circle and Tyson has come back To MACK after being conned into buying that junk. Let's all hope volvo hasn't screwed MACK up as bad as their junk.
