All,

New to this forum, but I work for KEy Energy Services, corp office is in Houston, I work out of the shared servcies offcies in Mildand, Texas. Weh ave appormaiatle 2600 trucks running from New York to California. We are predominatley Mack users. We have in the past few months had 22 cracked fan rings on the GU models from 2008-2009 modles. Was wondering if anyone else has had this probelm. Our main dealers are working on it, Mack seems to be staying in the loop, but not involved. Any comments?

We have seen it alot. The fan ring part# has been updated 3 times however it dosent say if it was improved. The warranty is only 1 year/100,000 miles on the fan ring so most guys just make some oversized plates and sandwich them over the fan ring and use longer bolts. There is a Mack service bulletin on using longer screws but this has nothing to do with the ring itself breaking around the mounting brackets. This has been a problem all the way back to the early CTP's and CXP's with the first MP7 engines.
