I have seen this truck on truck paper for a while alreay and was wondering whats the difference between the R700 and the RS700. Also wasnt the 866 V8 rated at 325 HP and not the 864? The engine looks like a non turbo and I am wondering if 325HP is the correct number. Either I am looking at it wrong or the hood looks shorter then an RS700. Price doesent look too bad since it is a running tri axle tractor cab looks rough though.

The RS700 was built in Hayward,CA,the R700 was built in PA.The RS had an aluminum grille, straight rail frame, and usually alot more aluminum components than a straight R700,and it was also available as a RL with an aluminum frame.

The ENDT866 was 375 hp,ENDT865 was 325 hp,END864 was 255 hp.Just a wild guess,but I'd say the truck probably had a 865 and has been replaced with a 864,doesn't look like it has a turbo to me either.The 864 was available at 325 hp,but it had twin turbo's.

Thanks for the info guys.

Too bad it doesent have the 866 325/375. Nothing says there no room for an E9 in there.

Here is another what I think is a 700 of some sort. Although it is the same picture and description used for three different listings:

That one looks like a "Eastern" R700. Looking at the pic ,the steering box is on the inside of the frame, RS/RL had straight rails and the steering box was mounted on the out side.

early RS/RL (Pre 73,)had hoods simmilar to the R700s but the grill opening was bigger and the bottom part of the grill extended downward.

later RS/RL700s (73' and on)had taller hoods to accomodate the larger grill but had the same length as a R700

R700s had the same basic hood design of the R600s but they were longer and had a slightly diffrent angle to accept the cowl being farther back,Also there were "side extension panels" behind the fenders

There were also diffrent hood lines on the top part of the hoods If you have ever seen a Valuliner hood you will see that some of them have a diffrent body line (top of hood) than standard R600 hoods.
