Daryl was the designated black sheep of the hunting party because Daryl snored loudly enough to inhibit others from sleeping in the same room. They decided it would be cruel to make any one of them to bunk with Daryl the whole time. They voted and drew straws to take turns. The first fella slept with Daryl and came to breakfast the next morning with bloodshot eyes, looking like he had been drug through the brush backwards. One fella asked, 'Man, what happened to you?' 'Daryl snored so loudly I just sat up and watched him all night. The second fella took his turn and by morning looked only slightly better than the first fella, with his hair hanging in his bloodshot eyes. One fella inquired, 'Man, what happened to you? You look awful!''Man, Daryl shakes the roof with his snoring. I watched him all night', He replied. The third night was Fred's turn. Fred, a big burly ex-football player, was a man's man. The next morning Fred came to breakfast bright eyed and refreshed. Good morning,' he said. His hunting party couldn't believe his composure! One fella inquired, 'Fred, what happened?' 'Well, we got ready for bed. I went over and tucked Daryl into bed, patted him on the pooper and kissed him good night. Daryl sat up and watched me all night.' Some devans in there and some of the guys will lay and sleep thru the day on slow days and we have had some of them. Mike Posted February 21, 2010 Share Posted February 21, 2010 Yea Glenn I know what you mean. When I drove for a local warehouse, I sometimes had to fill in for the dayshift driver and work 16 hours. I would pick up my first load early a.m. and unload at the warehouse and get thru about 8 a.m. Their were 4 of us sitting inside a small office on the dock. The boss would let us sit down and before ya knew it we all were asleep. Pratt was the boss and he always kept his ears open just encase a trailer would pull up or maybe some of the big wigs would come in. Had to lay over in Montgomery Tuesday night to load sand in Elmore Wednesday. Was late getting unloaded Tuesday because of Mardi Gras-truck control was closed at the port because it was "Fat Tuesday" and we couldn't get escorts.There was 3 of us there and none of us had a twic card, and you can't get into the ports without a twic card or an escort. We found a driver there with a twic card and he took our loads in and unloaded them for us.We dropped our trailers and took all the chains off but 2 and he took them in for $40 cash- not bad really, the escorts charge $35 an hour anyway. I was last to get unloaded, so I ended up laying over. Unloaded the sand in Seaford, Va. about lunchtime Thursday and was happy to get another load to Mobile- I was thinking Monday delivery. But nooooo, it had to deliver Friday and by the time I left Petersburg Thursday it was 5 pm. No more sand Friday, so I had to go to Foley, Al. There's lots of boobage to be seen at flashyourrack.com though.I did see planes, trains, and automobiles. Even a battleship- the USS Alabama in Mobile. First extended hood locomotive i've seen. Plane was over I-285 in Atlanta. Gibson's truck parts is in Cowpens, S.C. I've seen B-models and H-models there from 85 but I haven't had time to stop and look around yet. They come around the tables constantly asking if you want the food they have in stock pots. Their is another Lambert's in Sisksten, MO. A great place to stay in Mobile is in Fairhope, south of the bay called the "Grand" it is a Marriott Resort. There's plenty of places to pull over and park all along where I took that picture. I didn't of course because I didn't have time. Had to be in Foley by 3 o'clock to load. Got there at 2, time to spare, but not a lot to spare. About 5 minutes after I got to Azek Building Materials 2 more trucks came in to load. Good place to load, I just hate where i'm going.I might have seen Lambert's on tv before. I remember seeing some restaurant on the Travel Channel where they throw the rolls to you. Just a thought.I've used a fresh air supplied respirator for many years so I don't think this could be any problem as suggested.
