Before I get in a pinch, I need some input from the great minds out there!

I have a "Baby Quadraplex" that came out of my B-421.

It had a 401 gasser engine.

I want to put a 6BT Cummins in an 'E' I've got.

Will the transmission hold the 225-235 horse power of the Cummins??

Don't even want to put it in if there is any question of taking the torque of the 6BT.

I've got a Triplex and a 18 speed Quadraplex I can use but they are HEAVY!!

I'm sure they take the abuse, but man are they big!

I'd bet that small quad is stronger than the New Venture trans that is used in the new Dodge trucks. It is definately heavier than the old New Process four, and five speed transmissions used prior to the new ZF gearboxes.

I'm quite sure it would hold up well if your weren't trying to lift the left front wheel with a hot throttle.

You'd spend quite a chunk to get the proper SAE #1 flywheel housing and input shaft to fit the TR72XX series trans behind the Cummins.

I agree with Rob, unless you plan on really abusing it, Mack built components always seem to be really conservatively rated, and I think going to the heavier trans would really be over-kill.

I would also think that the baby quad box would handle that little Cummins without a problem, those transmissions were also used behind the ENDT 475 Scania motors back in the 60's.

Horsepower isn't the main concern, it's the torque output of the engine that matters.

If you could compare the torque specs of the 475 to the torque specs of the 6BT Cummins that would tell the story.

Just checked in at oldmacksrus!!!

Torque for a 401-402 is 330 foot-pounds of touque.

I'm thinking that the 6BT is something like 400-450 foot-pounds.

Might just work.

I hate that the transmission is set up with the main on the right,aux. on the left.

It's like driving a two stick (don't make me say it!) Pete!!!

I guess I'll just make do!!!

I put a bunch of miles on 4X4's but changing back and forth really screws up your mind.

Think you're going for a 900 RPM shift and only get 300!!

And that's the wrong way!!

Trans will have new bearings and seals, and won't put a lot of miles on it.

I now think it will work!!

ok not to rehash the subject. Since one of these won't work on my Cat. I see some of you are either doing the conversion or talking about putting a cummins in. My question is would this work in a dodge with the 5.9 and could you mount the transfer case up. Also would it be doable on a regular cab or is the wb to short? I want something different to drive. And do not want to get something to put a detroit in
