My 1947 LS85 has developed an issue with the pump. I fixed the vacuum valve for the clutch pedal last year and up until last week I have been able to engage the pump and with a garden hose adapter fill the pump and create pressure. Saturday I was at a show and tried to do the same and the primer pump engaged in all three of the pump handle positions. I have not looked much beyond figuring out that the primer pump is constantly engaged. Any ideas?

I am sure you are aware that the fire pump is not Mack equipment. I can't tell from the pictures, but if you have a Waterous pump, first thing you need to do is get a hold of them, have your pump serial number handy, and ask them for all the info. Waterous has great archives, and will be able to send you the parts breakdowns, repair manuals, etc. in a three-ring binder for free.
