I'm curious as to how many RS/RL 795/797s were made. Do any of you know.

Does anyone remember Crane Carrier Corp's tractors? I drove one for Colonial S&S back in the 70's. They were R700 Mack cabs with I-beam frame rails V8 71 Detroit power.BULLHUSK

I remember one that sat on Frank George's lot in Binghamton, NY for about two years. Someone finally bought it and leased to Branch. That was late 60's / early 70's.

The reason I ask is because I know were there's a RS795LST for sale [and yes it still has the V8!]that I would like to get and I was wondering as to how rare it is and how many were made.

The RL797LST, yes. The RL755LST, no, not on this computer. Another is loaded but the hard drive is belly up and I"ve got to pay to have many files extracted.

Since I flunked out of cosmetology school, with manicure and pedicure as main course of study, I learned how to take photos to post on BMT. Hope you don't mind.

Rob I noticed you have a dual wheel P/U & A nice trailer, can you tell me what kind of a set up you have. And do you think I could pull a trailer like yours with a 3500 Dodge Diesel single wheel,or maybe a super single tire if there is such a thing? Thanks Ernie

Hi Ernie, the truck is my "trusty, yet crusty Dodge". It is a V10 gasoline engine with automatic transmission. The trailer was not mine but belonged to Morgan Heaton, (B61 Fred) here on the board. I borrowed the trailer to bring that one home. I borrowed that trailer several times to drag "projects" back to the shop. A manual transmission would have performed better with this much weight I know as would have a diesel engine, but the truck was purchased new to be my daily driver and I wanted an automatic. Also didn't want to listen to a diesel engine making noise in that application.

I have pulled trucks home using both single, and dual rear wheels on pickup trucks. For the amount of pulling that truck has performed through the years I have no regrets with purchasing the dual wheels. It is much more stable in turns, and side loads from wind. I would do the same if purchasing another light truck.

One of my Macks will replace the Dodge sometime next year.

rob what transmission does that r 797 have in it??

Ten speed Mack, TRDL107, (I think). It shifts like a 12 speed Mack transmission by splitting gears.

Yup i remember seeing them around, there is the hood off one in a junkyard down here . did you ever see a FWD cabover? i remember seeing one up your way (JC/elizabeth area) guy was leased to greenstein produce company out of pompano beach,FL was the only one i ever saw......Mark

Thanks for the info Rob, I had a V10 for 6 years before i got the Diesel I liked that truck but i had too put plugs in it @ 35000 mi an when i sold it it had 140000 on it an it did not burn a drop of oil. GG2 front is 5200 & the rear is 6200 so it gives me a combo of 11400.On Tuesday I rented a 38ft. 2 car trailer & went from Jersey to Pittsburgh Pa.to P/U two 1965 Dodge Coronet 500's less motor & trans.but complete body & interiors the truck handled well,but i have to agree with Rob about the automatic trans.if your gona tow anything big & heavy a stick is the way to go
