When did the hard molded plastic dash replace the padded dash in the R models? Mine is gray, hard plastic, and the rt. gauge panel is more curved than the padded dash. The speedo and tach are also much more "fleet" looking than the standard gauges of the late 70's, and early to mid 80's.

I think probably around the time the "facelift" hood was introduced, 1988 or 89 maybe.
