I had an unusual day off in the middle of the week,my family and i went to the transportation museum up in roanoke thursday, they have some really nice things on exibit, mostly train related, but much to my surprise, i looked down between the 2 largest trains they have ,and see a fully restored B-model!. Walking around out back, they also have an H-67,a 1965 crakerbox GMC,a couple of Reo's,a Diamond Reo wrecker, and a 260 series Brockway, they were all pretty hard to get good pictures of,as they are awaiting restoration,in various stages of disarray, not really part of the display area yet. They kinda' have them hidden for the most part, but i thought i would try to get some pictures anyway! BTW, i'm pretty sure i have seen the B-42 on here, not sure what its story is,other than the fact its on permanent loan to the museum..............Mark

Some good pieces there, hope they save them all. I've seen the B model somewhere before. Paul

Here's a neat picture I found online at http://www.archive.org/details/WalterLMcNabbBModelMackandFriend. It was taken/made by Walter Mcnabb.

Good find! I haven't been there in a while.

These folks are also pretty involved in transit bus restorations also, for those that are interested. Not part of VMoT officially, but some of the same people.

The O. Winston Link Train Museum a couple of blocks down the road is also worth a stop, even for non-train people.

The Overnight branded B42 is the one Dennis Campbell restored in a red with black fender color scheme. It is in the book, "Mack" the first 100 years, in the B model section. These folks purchased it and repainted the truck to where it is now.

It was really nice in it's former colors also. I think they just repainted it.

They have a few of his photos inside, they are really something! that guy was quite the photographer! only thing i thought was strange is that almost all of his pictures were taken at night, there is one of a drive-in movie taken mid-fifties with a steam engine passing in the background that i really liked.......Mark

I pass by a trailer each morning going to work that looks like the one in the photo but not as shiney. The company that has it uses it for equipment only and is parked inside a fenced in lot. Also a Great Dane with rounded front, backed up near the highway, in some trees. I sure would like to see it restored but I don't have the room and resources.

Thanks for showing Mark

I have that photo as a framed poster hanging on my wall (OWL museum sells them, unframed). He was a pioneer of lighting for photography. He's from NY/NJ but many of his shots are taken in rural southwestern VA or WV.

Found this, kinda neat interactive info on that shot.

sorry to be off topic.
