Trucking News: FMCSA Proposes Seven Changes in Hours Rule

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is proposing seven changes in the current hours of service rules in order to, it says, give drivers the flexibility to take a break during the day and reduce the health and safety risks of long hours of work.

yeah... lets confuse the crap out of it. how about we go back to 10 on 8 off?

I don't understand it- it said they'd give you an hour break that didn't count against your time, but to take it you could only work 13 hrs. instead of 14? That makes no sense...maybe I read it wrong.

I wish they would just go ahead and make SOME kind of final ruling on this! you need a dam degree in quantam physics to figure it all out! me personally,i always thought 12 on (any combination on duty/driving-sleeper/off duty) would make the most sense,i pretty much still work off the old 10/8,just been doing it that way for so many years its hard to get used to the changes...sometimes you can't teach an old dog new tricks!
