I usually consider myself to be a pretty fair hand at identifying old trucks, but i came across this one today and it has me puzzled.....any ideas? make/model? only info in the original photo,is that it was taken in the Akron,OH area in the 1930's my best guess is diamond T,i could have sworn Rob posted a picture of a similar truck with a family member standing in front of it sometime back........Mark

Yes it is a Diamond T. I think a model 310, but not certain. I have a photo of my grandpa from 1942 standing in front of his gasoline tanker that looks like that truck. I'll see if I can scan it.

I can't get the scanner to work. Will try to get my daughter to look into it.

I was thinking it was a diamond T,pretty obscure model though, i have only ever seen 2 or 3 like this one....have to look closely but there is a diamond T emblem just above the center of the bumper....Mark

Thats a neat looking truck, height wise it looks kinda short or maybe those two guys are seven foot tall :)

LOL! thats one of the reasons i posted the picture, the truck has an integral sleeper, but the guy on the right appears to be taller than the truck is wide! I give those oldtimers all the credit in the world! i mean even today, truckings not an "easy" job,but i can just imagine what it was like back then! My grandad ran produce from NJ to Boston in the thirties in a Mack AK-6,sometimes he'd be gone 2-3 weeks,no sleeper,no heat,no nothing! a trip i can easily do up and back in a days time.......Mark

And no air ride either!

Pop told me he was happy to be riding on pneumatic tires,as opposed to solid rubber! and one of his favorite stories entailed him sleeping on a roadside picnic table one winter night along the the old boston post road (route 1) only to wake up covered in snow!
