have a 220 cum-a-long in my G-73. is there supposed to be a fuel return line off of the PT pump. i noticed in an old motors manual it showed a return line. on mine there's just a plug. don't know if it was plugged to get more fuel up top or it's not supposed to have a return there. the only return is in the back of the head. i do know that it de-accelerates on the slow side (typical of cummins) and that's usually a sign of a restiction somewhere. thanks. j.j. :idunno:

It depends more on the specific fuel pump, than the CPL. If it has not been removed, there should be a tag riveted to the pump, on top of the housing to the rear of the tach drive. With the numbers off the tag either Cummins or a local pump shop could better answer your question. I have seen them plugged, as yours , plumbed into the return, and vented into the fuel tank. However,if the truck has ran good previously, I would not suggest changing the way it is set up now. If it has a flex-hose from the rear head, for a return, it could very well be stopped up. Take the fuel cap off and with the engine running , see if it is returning. check this first, and if you still have the problem, send me an email and I'll try to help you figure this out...
