I tried out my new unit today...cooked a pork loin- but i'm not saying anything. I'll just let the pictures tell the story...my vocabulary isn't big enuff to describe how delicious this pork loin was anyway. Only smoked it for 4 hours, and it was-oops, forgot-I ain't sayin nuthin!

Veddy guud, now then, questions,,,type wood? spices? Why double grates? marinade? outdoor temp? humidity? barometric pressure? wind direction? your bank acct. number? Now, the answers-

just oak, some green maple, and fresh basil outa tha herb patch. Double grates is only because I took the grates out of the offset fire box and layed them up top, and smoked the loin on the top part, I reseasoned all the grates first.

No marinade, just bought the loin this morning, came home and put it on the grill. I did coat it generously with my homemade rub however.

Humidity was 78%, temp. was 81 degrees, barometric pressure was 30.87963983486321877 and steady, wind was light, 3-5 mph. from the southwest.

you're right again,I checked the number- just change that 5 right there to a 4 and it'll work. sorry, i musta hit the wrong key. Down to 66 degrees here now, hopefully it'll be a little cooler this week.

Tom, you ever tried Claude's brisket marinade? Pretty good stuff, I like it anyway.

No, never seen it. I usually try to pick up any sauce or marinade I see that I haven't tried before but i've never heard of Claude's.

ha, you're wrong this time! my other watch is also a Timex exactly like this Timex except the crystal is scratched and it has duct tape holding the band together-still works fine but I got a new one at Wal-Mart.

I write left handed, and slice meat left handed, but I throw right handed, hammer right handed-I guess i'm an oddity of some sort.

Well anybody that can afford 2 watches and shop at walmart, run round buying whole hogs and sides of beef, and afford to keep a peterbilt in the road, definitely got a bank box loaded with "cat hair". We so economically depressed and down round here, I have to threaten Spot with a shotgun to steal a chewed up ole bovine leg from him. I catch toads in the garage and skewer them with a stick to put on my grill, aint got no butter, have to use 15W-40, (drain just enough outta killer to cook with). randyp

Well that all sounds quite scrumptious for such a short jaunt. I had to drive 33 miles down country back roads and interstate to gather enough food for the sunday brunch we are just finishing up with.

The flat surface of an empty and inverted 55 gallon oil drum makes for a good serving platter and the sun keeps the food warm through convection heating. Last summer when I came up with the idea I used a heavy mallet to "dish" the drum and made an excellent deer based "stir fry". "Momma" even got me a chef's hat for that one.

I'm just a poor radar technician and can't afford a nice "unit", so have to make do with what's available as such.
