leversole Posted August 31, 2011 Share Posted August 31, 2011 Have verified the trans drive and speedometer operational...now on to the cable...something is missing from the speedometer end...shouldnt it have a large nut like on the tranny end? There is no large flange to hold the nut that I can see and was wondering it there were some split collar setup for the speedo end...Are these cables pretty much standard as far as the threads on each end? Rob Posted August 31, 2011 Share Posted August 31, 2011 My speedometer heads used a friction type clip that retained the jacket to the instrument housing. I suspect this is what you had. It was a piece of spring steel that you pushed in towards the instrument to extract the cable jacket. The friction type mounting assembly still has a "bellmouth" shape to the end of the cable jacket, and the cable end is not exposed.
