hey , looking to do a b model to possibly run everyday, i know crazy right? have not found the right truck yet, still looking. anyway i would look to put a 300+ in it , could i put a triplex behind it . would it hold up? if so how low could i lug it down? hope someone could answer this , what's the point of having a b if it does not have two sticks.might as well get some modern sloped nose plastic junk and be like everyone else. lol

You could use a triplex if your a good hand with a truck. You start gouging on it and something will break. The rear box will bust the case or the imput shaft will snap at the oil pump plunger hole. You run them in o/d with big power and it will wear the bushing out of the main shaft gear.

if you're going with a 300 or 300 plus you could try to find a 6 speed- you'd still have 2 sticks and it would probably survive the torque load.

I would like to recommend an 5 speed main box, like the ones in the R models, and then add a spicer 12000 series auxiliary trans. That way she will take all you throw at it. You would have some choices to make on the engine. The Injection pump on a low torque rise engine is set up different than that of thermodine engine. Also you would get a big double disc clutch with the 5 speed box. Just an idea.....

15 gears...no waiting!

Well thanks for all the info . Like my daddy says if i had a set of handles in a truck today i could leave the doors unlocked hardly anybody around who knows how drive a set of leevers today. lol it is a lost art today.

Thats very true, and like most other replies,i would recommend against a triplex behind a "modern" engine, they were just not built to withstand the torque of a higher horsepower, higher revving engine, and think you would be un-happy with the results, allthough i have heard of good results of a duplex/triplex behind a 237 Maxidyne, and its a relatively easy swap into a B-model,but again, just my two cents.........................Mark
