Mack F model an Brockway cab over

Recommended Posts

Can anyone out there tell me if the Mack F cab an the Brockway cabs are the same? I know they look the same but are the interiors an the wireing the same? A friend of mine found a low MI Brock. with a factory V12-71 but the cab can not be saved!! so I'm tryin to help him save this thing. The reason I ask about the cabs? The Brockway 700's with the R-Cabs look the same but are very different.

Thanks. Ernie DS

Years ago I took a Brockway cab apart to put on an F model Mack. It can be done but it really is a lot of spot weld drilling to not destroy them as the basic "shell" is near the same.

I know where there is a Brockway sitting in a "collection" in NC. I cannot remember the collectors name right now, but when I get back in town I'll look it up and send it to you. I have no idea what shape its in.

Ernie,i would have to agree with Rob on this one, buddy of mine in Jersey went the other way(,Brockway cab on wrecked F-Model) and other than some minor "surgery" everything fit just fine,as far as i know only diferences in the wiring would be truck specific,ie: type engine, trans, gauges, accessories etc. we did have to drill a few holes for things not on the Brockway cab,and as i remember the cab jack set-up was a little different than the Mack,as was the piping for the air-cleaner inlet we also encountered trouble getting the hole for the shift tower lined up right,,but the Brockway cab was 2 years older than the Mack at the time. And it took the best part of a week to get the cabs swapped out,not a particularly easy job!.................Mark

Ernie,

look in older bulldog magazine. one company from Montreal Qc named Nadon brique et pierre (brick and stone) had a daycab f model with 12v?? in it. I'm sure it's the only daycab f model with 12V detroit ever built. company no longer exist and I've seen they're DMM and Dm on the road but not this one. picture in the magazine was taken from right corner the truck was in their yard. can't remember the years..
