I have a 1982 R 686 St with 300 hp 4:17 rears 24.5 wheels and a TRXL 107 two stick 6 speed

I use the truck for road boring in witch we drill a horizontal hole and then hook a 3/4 steel cable to the Mack and in reverse we pull out the mud out of the hole so the contractor can install his pipe

The TRXL 107 as a gear ratio of 36:66 in 1 Rev, 21:32 in 2ND, 12:11 in 3RD 7:07 in 4Th,4:27 in 5Th

The truck has a steel bed with two 1000 gal steel tanks and when the tanks are full I have all the traction and power to break a 3/4 steel cable rated over 60,000 lbs in rev a little over idle when I an in 1ST reverse

My problem is in the 2001 CH 613 has a E7 427 with 3.86 rears 24.5 wheels and a RTO 16908LL

it has three reverse gears Low Low is 15.22 Low Reverse is 9.95 and Hi Reverse is 2.89

I need to figure out how is the best way to get close to those low gears in the R model

Is there a transmission with those low gear to fit the E7 427 or would an axillary transmission be the way to go don't know which one will be the best or most economical

Thanks Chris

The picture of the truck is like the pictures the Lady's on on line dating site that they post ..... not to recent. The trunnion on the rear end broke and I had it welded back to get back on the job so it stays on the job along with a lot of other problems I really need to replace the truck .The CH613 may not work as well as a R model. I like the way the CH 613 looks over the R model but its not the work horse the R is

I'd prolly go with a heavy spec'd truck with winches doing to "tugging". A lot of power can be had with eight wheels locked on solid ground and a hundred thousand, (or so) pounds of force exerted by a couple large winches. Easier on drivelines too.
