I "scored" good on ebay:

Today at work and bored, I decided to take a look at ebay. Low and behold what pops up with a "buy it now" option? An NOS "MOOG" king pin set for an FA-517 steer axle!! Geez I say cause I just got to have this for my B67. I was gonna purchase a new set before building up the brakes but hadn't got around to it yet. Turns out the guy had a 64 B67 with the same steer axle as mine but didn't move forward with working with the truck many years ago.

Carquest has the set I needed in one of their warehouses for a little over $175.00 and this set cost me $50.00 w/shipping so I"m a little ahead.

With the savings maybe I can now afford to have the front springs rebushed? I've already purchased new trunion bushings for the rear(s).

Gotta get a move on cause I got a grandaughter that will need a truck and S.L.U.F. just might be the one for her. The truck is named after an A7 Corsair II.

I love eBay I have 74 feedback and counting... Of course its 100% positive lol

Ya, I wish they wouldn't have had to do away with posting who was bidding on what however. I really hate to bid on, or win an auction and find out later it was against someone that really could have used the part more than I. I've won a couple of items on there when bidding against other members and friends cause I didn't who I was bidding against at the time.

Damned crooks caused this.

Never had much luck with ebay, seems evrytime i find something i am interested in,i will be the top bidder up and until .03 seconds from the ending! then i get the carpet pulled out fromunder me,so i have pretty much given up on the whole idea, which is a shame, cause i have seen quite a few things i would've surely purchased if it had a "buy it now" price....but being computer illiterate, you do the best you can with what you have to work with i guess!.......................Mark

Got the king pin set today and it's everything it's supposed to be. Much higher quality than what could be purchased new also.

I'm about as happy as a pig in shit right now. Think I'll head to the store and get me a big ole bag of "Cheetos" to celebrate.

You better get that crap off Momma"s cutting board before she see it.

Yup. That is also where we mix baby formula too; hence the reason for the paper towel. I put the stuff back into the box so she don't see it cause she may elect to abuse me if I get caught.

Shoulda used 2 paper towels.

You are exactly correct. Ain't nothing quite like the taste of gear lube in the food. Kinley has never suffered from constipation and I'm just helping her along don't ya know.

Funny thing here, (kinda); I left the photo up on computer and "Momma" got up this morning before I did. She seen the post on the computer and was none to happy with me again. You see, our son made that cutting board as a high school wood shop project several years ago and paper towel or not, "It was not for the storage of truck parts".

Suppose I listen for next time cause her voice is less than pleasant at 110dB.

Are you going to have to ream the bottom bushings to size? I just installed the spiral type "no ream" set on mine...

PS...you wanna draw the wrath of your better half, try and cure some powder coat in the oven!

Most of these types you had to ream. The bushings readily slip onto the pins now but by the time they are pressed into their respective bores, I'm certain they will be very tight. I'll go to the truck parts store next Saturday and using their tools and equipment get them pressed in and fitted. Really wanting to get this truck rolling again, pull the cab for the winter months, and roll the chassis outside under a tarp for the winter.

I used to have an oven and tried the powder coat routine and it does smell terrible to the untrained nose. When you smell paint as long as I have it really is no problem. There is a guy a few miles down the road that does very high quality powder coating so when I need that service, he is used. Lot less stock to carry that way also.
