Chris Hogg Posted November 13, 2011 Share Posted November 13, 2011 The truck in question is a 2003 CH 613, Any idea what would cause the head lights to just stop working? There is one 20 amp breaker in the fuse panel, it appears to be OK, just for grins I replaced it with a new one, no change, still no head lights. Are there any other fuses, breakers or relays on a CH 613 that pertain to the headlights? The day time running lights work as do all of the stop, turn and tail lamps. On the turn signal switch, I can slide the switch to the right that is intended to flash the head lights and they will flash but turning the head light switch on does nothing at all. It may or may not be related, but the lightning bolt is lit up on the dash, it gives 2-6 for a code. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It is regarding the headlite switch.One hour replacement time at a mack dealer. RowdyRebel Posted November 13, 2011 Share Posted November 13, 2011 Yup...I've burned through more than a couple headlight switches in my '01 CH. Then I got tired of buying 'em at $30/ea and bought a 50 amp toggle switch (WalMart, Auto Zone, truck stops, etc...just a generic switch) for $5 and wired that in. That did the job (just turned all the lights controlled by the switch on & off at the same time...no "marker lights only" position) until I could convince the local dealer to look into the issue. They had heard about issues in the CX, and the recall was just a relay that would be wired in. I haven't had any problems since they looked into it....it is nice having the OEM switch in there again, but definitely get the underlying problem FIXED before you spend a ton of money replacing the switch. Year/type?I can't remember if it's involved in a campaign or not. Mack, at least to my knowledge, never campaigned any of the RD or CV chassis, though they did publish a similar fix for them. I've seen far worse than burnt out switches in some of those. Mack's explanation of the problem was that the burnt out switches were caused by current surges. Chris Hogg Posted November 15, 2011 Author Share Posted November 15, 2011 Still no lights, got power into the head light switch and power out of the head light switch and power into the dimmer switch but no power making it to the head lights. Decided to replace the dimmer switch/turn signal assembly but the nut that holds the steering wheel on is stripped out, you can turn it all day long with your fingers but you can't get it loose...
