2004 thru 2007 Granites (models CV & CT) used the "AI" engine. As much of a Mack fan as I am, the "AI" was a big let down. While there are some improvements you can make, the low end performance is poor, fuel economy is not great, and the engine requires more frequent oil changes because of the dirt and soot that finds it's way into the crankcase.

I would prefer a 2003 with the E-Tech engine, or in 2007 Mack had a short run of "CTP's", a Granite with the MP7 engine, but without a DPF. They were not perfect, but after the initial bugs, they did pretty well, and even though 405 horsepower was the highest setting, they absoulutely out- performed the AI's.
