Got this truck in at the shop the a few weeks ago and are having an "discussion" about the year and model.

The only number we can find so far is the engine number that starts with EN. I will look for more numbers once we get the fenders off of it.

The windshield tilts out, but is the same size as a A20, the top of the cowl is shaped to a point in the middle versus straight like an A20. The fenders are narrow at the rear, self supporting, but have holes for running boards.

1939 to 1942 Mack DE 1 1/2 ton. Powered by a Continental EN11 210 cubic inch 6 cylinder. It's missing a lot of trim on the nose and has the military pattern bumper assembly. Paul

Man that is one cool truck!!!! But yes I agree it looks like an E model

The DE was the light weight version of the EE, about 900 made over 4 years and most were U.S. Navy General Service units. The main difference aside from the 1 ton less capacity, was longer front fenders and trim, the power pack and 20" wheels. Paul

EE / EH

I think Paul nailed it. They look nearly alike, but the DE is really rare, I think Roy Moxley has one, but I can't come up with a picture. Here are two pictures I could find, but I think one is an E, and the red one is a DE.

The red one has single rear wheels, it's a 3/4 ton ED. 1938 to 1944 , 2686 made. There is one for sale on Craigs list in eastern Conneticutt now for $7000..........confusing letter call outs ain't it? ED is less capacity than a DE which is less capacity than an E...................
