I am looking at buying a 2004 Mack CV713 Dumptruck with a 460 HP E7 Engine. The truck has a 18 spd which will be nice and only 50000 miles which is crazy low and a little scary. I would greatly apritiate any and all info and opinions on this truck for I have little if any knowledge of macks other than I see a ton of these dumptrucks on the road so figure they cant be to bad. But would love to know if this is a sweet truck or buyer be ware. I listed info on the truck with a photo. Look forward to hearing all about what to

expect out of this rig.

I think for a dump the rears are to light. But if your not doing job sites and only going to mixer companies they will work. But you start sinking and put the power to it your gonna tear an axle up fast

2004 and only 50,000 miles? Something just don't seem right.

Sharp looker though.

If I remember correctly, the 2004 engines became fuel pigs. Not much performance and a whole lotta fuel spent.

I could be wrong.

Get the vin# and run it past a MACK dealer. Any service history/problems. Any computer upgrades done?

I was worried about the miles to they said it worked hauling kitty litter from the crusher to the plant but who knows. but with two mile hauls it takes a while to get miles on it. I am waiting for the hours on the motor now to see if it idled alot

I think it may be worth the effort to either pull a valve cover, or run a scope probe down into the engine looking for sludge buildup. That is low mileage for certain and I'd be interested in the engine condition should it be run continuously while not fully warmed up.

Kitty litter, and oil dry, bentonite, etc. are heavy products for certain for the cubic foot are they take up and this would stand to reason for the quad axle with light components. Seems like the truck was always on hard ground.

How do you know what rears are in it are you refering to 40000lb. Or do you mean the gears are to low?[ I thought it was a heavy duty truck but you dont think it will handle construction sites

GVWR is 80k, must be legal limit where you're at

by axle, 84k and change

I would also be sure to check air intake system as it was around very fine dust all its life

Looks nice. Don't make any plans for the weekend. You will be polishing the aluminum!.

What kind of lies on the other?

They had replaced the dash in it and are representing it with 50,000 instead of 450000 and other lipstick and makeup. they insisted that all quads run 40,000 lb axels and that was the best fit but I wasnt convinced with that much power and going off rd. this new truck is 20 000 dollars more but alot newer truck not sure of the 10 spd either but seem to get mixed opinions about that. I will be pulling a 40000 lb excavator with it so would like to see a few more gears but it should work. Do you think this one has plenty of power I know even less about this engine than the other one.

Here is an option. You can get it,Run it and when the transmission pukes already have a trans lined up or get a 13speed or a different Mack trans to put in there.
