hello guys.

how do i remove the steeringwheel and the steeringshaft of the steeringgaer?

i want to take the cab of off my parts truck,but first i have to remove the steeringwheel and shaft.

going to try with some pullingdevice to pul the wheel of ,but then the shaft has to come ouy somehow.

You do not remove the steering shaft from the steering gear on a B model. The steering gear case has to be dissassembled to remove the column/shaft from the gear while out of the truck.

Easiest way I've found is to unhook the steering linkage from the gearbox,unbolt it from the frame and pull it out in one piece.Alot times the steering wheel is a pain in the ass to pull,plus you have to lift the cab high enough to clear the steering column,this elimnates both problems.

thank you guys

i know the price of the old mack parts here in europe xso i don`t want to mess opthings to much.\

i`ll try to get the steering off and then ,look how it`s goinjhg tanqay furtheter.

i never thought it coukd be so hard to work on a truck this old.
