Finishing a rebuild of a 1965 Mack 707C Gas Engine and need to know how any advise on setting the Thrust Buttons on the front gear plate. The engine was completely torn down and reassembled and looking for suggestions as the manual does not address this.

Do you have the spec? If so, the technique used to set the free-play with the thrust buttons was relatively simple and actually became part of our PM at one point.

So, to set the free play, gently screw the thrust button in removing all free play. Set the lock nut snug to the front cover. Back the thrust button screw and lock nut assembly out from the cover, checking the distance with a feeler gauge. Once the proper dimension is achieved, hold the thrust button screw and tighten the lock nut to the cover.

If you need the spec, I can look it up once I'm back to work.
