Years back in Conn. Tilcon had a bunch of DM 800's with V8's maybe 400hp. I was hooked after hearing them and then having my first E9 my face hurt from smiling so much. There are still a few running around northern Vermont hauling chips and logs, Tim

May sound rediculous but after watching those videos last evening I actually got up from the computer and went out to the shop to start both V8 R700's "just to listen".

"Momma" says I'm sick.

Back when I had my 2000 PSD dually with a straight pipe on it, it sounds like a baby V8 mack(only 440 ci instead of 998 ci). V8 diesels have their own sound, nothing like a 6 banger. Sure do miss that truck.

Tilcon replaced the V8's with 6 cylinder engines in the DM's as they got older. But there are some with the V8 still around. My 1995 3500 Chevy has straight pipes from the manifolds back then to a tee with 4.5 pipes..

The 2000 PSD only had a muffler, no cats(yet). I built a Z bend to replace the muffler and left the stock tailpipe(3 1/2"). Loved to leave the rear slider open when pulling my trailer and listen to it bark pulling hills(especially going under an overpass).
