Finally got the fuel starvation problems fixed on the R795. After running out of fuel several times with the tank containing the pickup full, replacing the fuel lines, fuel filters, and "kitting" the xfer pump, it was still sucking the fuel out of the secondary filter, then starving out. Same story time and time again, primary filter, (red) is full, the secondary filter, (green) is damned near bone dry. After removing the filters and filling the green one several times, I installed another pair of filters, and the problem went away. Trying to figger what the difference would make when the other filters never left the shop when running, I get a spare remote filter head, plug the threaded ports for the hoses to attach to with the exception of the inlet port, apply five psi to the inlet port and submerge the assembly in the parts washer. Lo and behold this sucker is bubbling rapidly at the crimp of the shell to the base! This could explain why I could pull fuel from the secondary filter but not from the primary.

I feel like I look, (dumbass) for spending so much time chasing after something so seemingly simple. These are Mack branded filters so I'll run over to the dealer and get them replaced as defective.

The truck now once again runs very sharp and crisp to throttle response. Maybe it will stay that way a while.

I'm glad you mastered this one. Sometimes it's simple and still that doesn't mean it's easy to figure out. Good luck with your truck and have a nice day

Thanks Pawel. This was truly difficult to locate as there were no fuel leaks, or wet spots at all. The filters were new last summer during routine maintenance tasks.

Tonight I started the truck, let it idle over 1/2 hour at a fast idle, (1200 rpm) then held the idle at 1800 rpm for about three minutes and it did not starve out. I didn't drive it but am thinking the problem is resolved; finally!

Now maybe I won't resolve to crying so much cause everybody picking on me for running out of fuel.

Yeah, that's just unfair - you haul two full fuel tanks with you and still run out of fuel, ain't that bad? A friend once told me, he had seen a truck that ran out of fuel in Germany - he was standing on the crossing, at the street lights. The irony of it was this crossing is located exactly between a small gas station (like 50 meters away) and a large truck stop with it's own large gas station (not more than 200 meters away). Anyhow, I hope you won't get more trouble with this fuel system anymore, good luck with your trucks and have a nice day
