I have 1999 E7 460. I just ordered a set of 20% oversized injectors, wich should take me to 550 HP. Has anybody else done this???? I know with more hp comes less life. I am looking for real experiences with this set up. Good / Bad, failures ect..... My truck is set up as a lowboy truck. 12 axles empty wt 70,000lbs

Loaded wt 170,000-230,000lbs. 460 hp has worked for the last 250k miles but just looking for some more.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

never done that. just added a programer on older version. let me know how it goes. I like the you pay I learn idea :)

Ha - that is exactly what I think sometimes, but it usually is that I pay and someone else reaps the benefits - but a lesson bought is a lesson taught!

i dont think your goona get 550 but you have more fuel your gonna need more air

Hey In my 2000 Rb I have the 20% over inj. as well as a adj. waste gate turbo, I make 37psi boost. that set up has about 300K . it does run a hot in summer time when Im on it! My bigest problem is the small hood, and rad of the Rb. I have a five core rad. Not many Rb's were built with etech460. I gross up to 140,000# the 460 worked but just needed that little bit more. bobo

I run superflow injectors in both my E-7's. My 2000 Rd with a 400hp is getting 90 more horses but does run hot on hot summers days when pulling a long hill. Not to the point where it is a problem but close. I did add a aluminum radiator. Next step is to add a 427 turbo for more air to get my EGT's down which will help with the high temps. With oversized injectors, the computer does not know what injectors is in the truck, so no codes come up. I had Dale Francis build me a turbo for my superliner with a E-9, getting 38 pounds of boost, with the pump turned up, talk about power.

Live every day like it's your last, because one of these days, it will be.

Thanks for your responses. Took my truck and had it dyno'ed today at caterpillar to know where we are starting with the stock injectors. 4 pulls with the highest HP at 389 to the ground. The guy told me to add at least 15% to that number to get to flywheel HP...

So 446-460 HP. Should get new injectors in 2-3 weeks then we will try it again. Might need upgraded turbo???? Will see. FYI gauges are reading.... Pyro never above 825. Boost 30-32 psi.

I'd make certain that pyrometer is accurate when you get the new parts installed. I've seen uprated engines fail due to trusted equipment not being correct.

Finally getting back to you all. I ended up installing a set of stage 3 injectors and ran it for a couple of days with the stock turbo Wow lots of smoke, even though boost gauge snaps to 36psi. Heated too fast, to 1100 on the flats. Then installed a turbo from Rochester. WOW lots more smoke and less boost, only 30psi. I thought I made a mistake doing all this. Then I adjusted the waste gate so I get 40psi. I have hauled numerous loads from 175,000 to 240,000lbs. It's nice when the ambient temps are below 50 degrees Fahrenheit then you only have to watch the pyro. But the last couple loads it's been 80plus degrees. Water temps are out the roof!! Even with the fan on 100% of the time. I have removed the intercooler and radiator and pressure washed both, still water temps are high. Does somebody make a bigger, thicker radiator???? So far very happy lots more power just need to figure out the cooling. Hopefully I will get by the dyno shop in the next 30 days then we will find out the exact improvement.

Check out detroit radiator and or Pittsburgh power makes something for high powered diesels. Friend of mine just bought somethign with bigger tubes and it runs cooler. I need somethign also this trip out anytime I pulled any incline the fan just about never shut off and it was constantly at 201 or alittle better.

http://www.radiatorworks.com/ check these guys out. They build as many cores as will fit your truck, copper and brass too. not plastic and aluminum. I priced one, very reasonable. Looks like top quality work. Good people and cheap shipping.
