a friend of mine says he had a rs700 with a cat motor at one time but sold it . I didnt know any macks ever came with cats.i may be wrong could someone educate me?

I have a 1978 RL755LST with a 1693TA Cat engine that is original to the tractor.

Another rumor to be put to rest. I have heard that if a Mack had the gold dog that meant it did not have a Mack engine. Is that the case?

Quite the opposite. The Gold Bulldog on the hood means it is has the Mack engine, Mack transmission, and Mack rear ends.
When approaching a 4-way stop, the vehicle with the biggest tires has the right of way!

Looks like an honest truck repowered with a 3406 Cat engine. Prolly be best replacing the cab and doors.
