Red Rover Posted January 30, 2012 Share Posted January 30, 2012 I'm looking for advice on how to proceed with this engine swap from one H model to another. Though the engine runs I doubt that it has run at much more than an idle for some time. Should I do anything while it's out before installing in the other truck, are there any issues common to these engines that should be addressed? Are there things that I can do myself without getting in too much trouble? I'm asking now so that I don't do something incredibly stupid in the process. Thanks in advance for your help. theakerstwo Posted January 31, 2012 Share Posted January 31, 2012 Pull the fylwheel and make sure the flywheel bolts to the block is tight and replace the pilot brg. It the oil pan has a round plate in the bottom middle pull it and clean the oil pump pick up screen. And this engine then would not use a full flow oil filler but the 500 luberfinder by/pass.
