I wanted to know what color my motor and tranny would be from the factory. I thought I saw some gold paint on the tranny and grey paint on the motor. Superdog Posted February 2, 2012 Share Posted February 2, 2012 '75 would have been gold on both,if your motor is gray,it's probably a newer engine as they went to gray in later years, or was repainted after a rebuild. But if it's a reman wouldn't it just be the block and you would have to use everything else off the original one? Superdog Posted February 2, 2012 Share Posted February 2, 2012 You could buy complete rebuilt engines,ready to drop in the truck.For awhile Mack even offered glider kits with rebuilt engines installed ,you just had to provide transmission and rear ends,they called them Power Gliders or something like that.Gray would have been the right color for '86.
