Industrial auction - injection molding machines

Robbbbb and a couple other guys on here have expressed interest in injection molding machines and related junk that I buy at auctions. There is one coming up in Louisville, Ky on Feb. 16th. I have a utility company auction that day, so I am not going, but I bet it is worth a look.

There are always some good deals to be had at these, especially in the tool room and maintenance departments - good way to get cheap used stuff for your shop or garage. Here is a link:

If you come home with a truck load of junk and your wife throws a fit, I will deny ever posting this. I drive by the house real fast and then park behind the barn when I come home from a auction - hopefully she is on the other side of the house when I go by and that the kids don't rat me out.

I used to like to go with Claude Allen Moore to help retrieve his auction buys. He owns a machine shop and a lot of time he would have to bid on a lot, usually a lot of stuff together, or sometimes every thing in a room at large factories or industrial plants, when all he wanted might be one particular machine tool. He always requested me because i'd always help him sort stuff, move stuff, carry stuff, load stuff,or whatever, instead of waiting in the sleeper or something while they loaded the trailer like most drivers would do. The old " that's not my job" deal. Most of the stuff that he didn't want or couldn't use he could resell easily but there was still a lot of things they just threw away and he told me if I wanted any of it to help myself, so I did. Got some pretty neat stuff sometimes.

It all boils down to the fact that it pays to be friendly - and the day goes by a lot quicker helping someone than it does laying in a sleeper

Oh absolutely. I think I liked looking through the stuff as much as he did.

Before we moved,i had an older couple that lived near me that did house clean-outs,ran a little second hand store, and would then take the things thet did'nt want or need to the local friday might auction, eventually their business grew quite a bit,and they decided they needed a bigger truck, they ended up buying an old 22' penske truck. They never really advertized for help, but when they found out from my mom that i had been a household mover for 22 years,i got "volunteered" to see if they needed any help/advise. Mrs. boyd was shocked at "the amount of shit that boy could could put on our truck"! i enjoyed helping them out,and ended up with some really nice furniture as payment, and usually first pick before the auction. I still have a box of vintage Tonka,Buddy L trucks i'll restore someday that came from them. Used to like hanging around the auction, and watch people fight over something pulled from a dumpster! Course sometimes they would BUY more than they sold,so at least i was loaded both ways, very little deadhead!..........................Mark

Auctions are fun to go to, even though I haven't been to one for years. I've been to estate auctions and watched people bid on a shovel- an ordinary plain old shovel, not one that was once owned by John Wayne or anything, just a shovel- and end up bidding twice what they could have went to Appomattox Hardware and bought a new one for. And on the other hand, my son-in-law once bought a nice 12 or 14 foot jon boat for a hundred dollars.

I watched that show "Storage Wars" a coupla times, didnt much care for it but just a lil entertaining. Seems to me they always put a high price on junk they just bought. randyp

Seen that a few times myself, seems kinda fake to me,i mean who the hell "forgets" they have $10,000 cash in a shoe box? and why would'nt ya use it to pay the storage bill? i've met that guy that drives the T-600 KW on that "Shipping wars" show, and yes,he's just as bigga douche as he appears to be on TV!.........................Mark
