Seems I recall a person in the Wheels of Time magazine that can issue a title if you still want that truck.

If you know there is no problems other than a lost paper title, obtaining is not that difficult. A surety bond is required, ($100.00 cost nationwide) and the cost of the title. Takes about six weeks to get a new one in your name back if the prior owner signs off without problems, or is dead. Sometimes the latter option is easier JK.

Beware certain states wont take a title from a title company like the ones in ads, easy for the seller to get one bonded from the state before you buy it like Rob said. No reason they couldnt unless something is funny. And make sure than door tag matches the frame rail.
