Anybody got a king pin press for large trucks?

Recommended Posts

I'm wanting to make myself one of these things and need some photos of an actual one. I have a 25 ton porto power to use just need to see some photos to duplicate.

Thanks,

Rob

Rob, we have an OTC kingpin press. On Monday I will take some pics and measurements. This uses a Portapower- type hand pump and dual rams. Looks like the same as a small OTC press . Thanks,Steve

Thanks Steve, I've thought long and hard about purchasing one of the OTC brand presses but just don't use it enough to justify the cost. I have adequate hydraulic force available so will make the adapters and fittings for my own. Photos and dimensions will be a great help!

My tapered pins came out with a hammer. Took less effort then the pins in my '70 F100!!! (straight pins=heat an beat)

The medium duty trucks with straight pins are a real bitch to get out. I made a plate with chains that attached to a 20 ton bottle jack to press them out years ago. Really don't like to heat suspension parts other than warm to loosen things due to structural integrity of the parts.
