Hi

Every once in a while you find a nice original low milage truck. This 64 B73 model is all there. It has a 250 Cummins, Quad box, Dbl frame, and approx. 220"WB. The steering is factory power. One unique feature at least to me is how thin the steering wheel is. Was this because of the factory power steering? and they decided to give the big boys some more belly room? The truck has no factory tach or speedo. They are in the 2 factory installed tachographs. The dash has a plate to fill it in and a nice big pyrometer in the middle. Only issue is the aux is stuck in direct and I think I will have to take the back end off the trannie to get to it??

The cab hs the sunken floor board. Is there new sheet metal available for these cabs?

That would have to be the find of the year so far when it comes to ol Bs! Is the steering wheel original or do you think it may have been a replacement? Could it be thinner due to a different dash layout? Actually, that wouldn't be much of an issue now that I think about it!

Looking forward to seeing your progress with her. Sounds like a call to the Mack Museum may reveal all!

Dan,

On the very top left side of the trans. there are the 2 short rods with clevis's on each end hooked to the shift rails (or whatever the technical term is)for the aux.box.Pull the back pin out of the left one,then see if the stick will free up.If there isn't something serious wrong,it should pop it out of gear,then you can put the pin back in and you'll be good as new.I've had a couple different quads get stuck in gear and this has always cured it.Then grease the hell out of those rails,should be zerks on both ends.

I was going to try that but there is almost no room to get up in there. But I just need to get under it and try harder. As for the G model. It is there looking for a new home. I just don't have the room to store it. Let me know if you or anyone else may be interested. What about that steering wheel? Have you seen them like that? I should post an interior pic.

thats a good looking truck, I just bought a b73 and It has a tahograph ( or what ever it is) in it, what is this thing used for? Its a b73 1960 model. It has a 220 cummins, you say that that box in the middle of the dash is there from the factory? I have sent in to the meusem for info on my truck. I am curious. Was the power steering very popular in the b73? I would think that big of a truck would steer pretty hard.

That is much thiner than the one on my b 73 when compaired to each other, Do you think that it has been worn off over the years? I am a mechanic and I get into my truck with dirt and grime all over my hands all the time and I was looking at the steering wheel in my truck and compared to truck of the same year it is a lot smoother and thinner. just a thought
